Guest jd130672 Posted November 5, 2002 Posted November 5, 2002 www.beatingtiredness.com I realize after reading these posts that I over submitted our site when I first tried to get us listed with dmoz.org, which I hope didn't cause too much trouble. My first request was on 29 August to this category: Health: Conditions and Diseases: Neurological Disorders: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Since then I think I submitted 2-3 times more, trying a couple of different categories. I would be grateful if someone could tell me what the status is of our request. Thanks in advance, Nick
motsa Posted November 5, 2002 Posted November 5, 2002 You won't get a listing in Health because you don't really provide any information. You are, however, waiting for review in http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Health/Conditions_and_Diseases/Neurological_Disorders and http://dmoz.org/Regional/Oceania/Australia/Health/Alternative .
Guest jd130672 Posted November 5, 2002 Posted November 5, 2002 Thanks for your reply. Is it likely we will be listed in both categories, or should we just be requesting one? If it is just one, the most appropriate category would be http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Health/Conditions_and_Diseases/Neurological_Disorders Is it possible to give an estimate of how long it will take before we get listed? Thanks for your help, Nick
Meta hutcheson Posted November 6, 2002 Meta Posted November 6, 2002 Since there is no obvious connection (that I know of, at least) between "Australia" and "alternative treatments for mental disorders", the two submittals must be considered completely independently. Either (or both, or neither) may be accepted. We generally don't like multiple submittals of the same site, but if a site has global topical interest and local interest, we wish people would also submit their sites to the correct Regional categories, because some of us editors from the Northern Hemisphere couldn't find the Australian states (provinces? counties? shires? whatever) on a map, let alone know which towns are in which. In fact, if I get a duplicate submittal of a site which seems to be about an entity in some particular place, I often send it to Test/Misplaced/Regional rather than deleting it. But that's the slow boat. If you know the right province and town, you can get the site reviewed much faster.
Guest jd130672 Posted January 24, 2003 Posted January 24, 2003 Hi, I'm writing because our site is still not listed and I wanted to know if it has been reviewed yet. I notice in the second message I received that it said a regional link helps, which I have included here: http://dmoz.org/Regional/Oceania/Australia/Western_Australia/Health/Alternative_Medicine/ I appreciate any help you can give me. Is there anything else I can do to speed up the process? Best wishes, Nick
Guest Posted January 24, 2003 Posted January 24, 2003 Actually it was never submitted to http://dmoz.org/Regional/Oceania/Australia/Western_Australia/Health/Alternative_Medicine/ but is still waiting in http://dmoz.org/Regional/Oceania/Australia/Health/Alternative_Medicine/ . I dont recall having looked at it (I'd probably remember lime green on purple ) but for a Regional listing it really needs a physical location. The site says 'Nick's practice is located in Perth' but is that Perth CBD or Perth Metropolitan area, in which case it would go in the actual suburb/locality. To help us an address would be nice, and might make it easier for your clients as well.
Guest jd130672 Posted January 24, 2003 Posted January 24, 2003 Thanks for that. I will add our address. It is in Perth CBD. Is there any way I can help to speed up the review process? It has been several months since I first submitted the site. Thanks a lot! Nick
Guest Posted January 24, 2003 Posted January 24, 2003 Sorry, you can't speed up the process. Having an address should mean it gets listed next time someone looks at that category. We can always use new editors to help list sites throughout the directory though. You can always apply for a category and include your own site provided you act impartially and do not favour your site over any other. If it's Perth CBD http://dmoz.org/Regional/Oceania/Australia/Western_Australia/Localities/P/Perth/Health/ would be the category. (Alternative Health doesnt exist at that level until we get more sites for it)
Guest jd130672 Posted January 28, 2003 Posted January 28, 2003 Thank you for your reply. I have added our address to the site. We are just outside the CBD, and the suburb was listed, so the correct link is http://dmoz.org/Regional/Oceania/Australia/Western_Australia/Localities/W/West_Leederville/ Should I resubmit our site from this level? We are waiting for review in the following categories: http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Health/Conditions_and_Diseases/Neurological_Disorders and http://dmoz.org/Regional/Oceania/Australia/Health/Alternative and I don't want to over submit our site. Thanks for your help, it's much appreciated. All the best, Nick
motsa Posted January 28, 2003 Posted January 28, 2003 I've moved your submission from http://dmoz.org/Regional/Oceania/Australia/Health/Alternative to the West Leederville category where it is now listed (I reviewed it since there was nothing else waiting there and since I'm working through WA localities right now anyway).
Guest jd130672 Posted January 28, 2003 Posted January 28, 2003 Thank you for reviewing the submission. Please could you tell me the outcome of the review. All the best, Nick
motsa Posted January 28, 2003 Posted January 28, 2003 I take it you missed the part where I said "where it is now listed"?
