Thank you for your help in this matter. Just a quick question: I submitted this site to the ODP one year ago. Is there any indication at all that this site is ever going to come up for review, or should I just resign myself to the situation? The client periodically requests the status of this, and I have no good answers for them as to when this is ever going to get reviewed.

Please direct your client to this thread if they need an explanation - it's definitely way outside your control where a site will get reviewed. It *will* get reviewed eventually, but due to the voluntary nature of the ODP, there is no telling when it will happen.

Patience is the only strategy that I can counsel.

Our Social Contract says that "We will make every effort to evaluate all sites submitted to the directory.", but we don't (and can't) promise any timeframe. If you submitted a listable site with a guideline compliant title and description to the most appropriate category then you did everything you could do not to delay a listing.

That's not a surprise because even we don't know it. But you can always point your client to this thread...

Alucard,

Thanks for your reply. I completely understand, but I'm afraid that sometimes our clients don't. I've gotten quite good at calming them down about these little difficulties, and will certainly direct them toward this thread if they require more.

It takes the pressure off you when an external third party (us) says quite plainly that there is nothing you can do to influence this is any way, shape or form.
