pmccracken Posted May 6, 2004 Posted May 6, 2004 Purpose, scope, and focus for our site has changed. Would like to move to another category with another description: Site: http://www.ventureline.com Current Category: http://dmoz.org/Business/Financial_Services/Venture_Capital/Resources_for_Entrepreneurs/Capital_Access_-_Financing/ New Category: http://dmoz.org/Computers/Software/...ental_Analysis/ New Description: Financial analysis online: Financial statement analysis including 28 accounting ratios. Financial ratio analysis available for both public and private companies. Industry analysis includes industry ratios comparison to company performance. Thank you
donwiebe Posted May 6, 2004 Posted May 6, 2004 We will not update listings based on requests in this forum. Please use the "update URL" link in the category in which your site currently resides. When filling out the form, please include a reason for the change.
pmccracken Posted June 11, 2004 Author Posted June 11, 2004 As requested, about 1 1/2 months ago I processed a form on your site containing the following: Site: http://www.ventureline.com Current Category: http://dmoz.org/Business/Financial_Services/Venture_Capital/Resources_for_Entrepreneurs/Capital_Access_-_Financing/ New Category: http://dmoz.org/Computers/Software/Business/Investing/Fundamental_Analysis/ New Description: Financial analysis online: Financial statement analysis includes 28 accounting ratios. Industry analysis includes industry ratios comparison to company performance. Is it possible to obtain a status of my request? Thank you.
pmccracken Posted June 18, 2004 Author Posted June 18, 2004 Hi, My prior post probably dropped below the radar. Just looking for a status of the request processed to change category. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
Meta kokopeli Posted June 18, 2004 Meta Posted June 18, 2004 There is no update waiting there, nor was one processed. I can see where an editor moved a duplicate entry from http://dmoz.org/Business/Financial_Services/Venture_Capital/Resources_for_Entrepreneurs/Capital_Access_-_Financing to http://dmoz.org/Business/Financial_Services/. I'm actually not sure why this was done. I went to that category and can see that it wasn't an update they moved, however. Had you perhaps actually made another submission? My advice would to to return to that category and fill out an update form. In fact, this link should take you to where you need to go.
pmccracken Posted July 1, 2004 Author Posted July 1, 2004 That is strange. I did process the form and received confirmation. I will process another form as you have requested. Should I wait another month or should I check back with you once the update form is processed? Thanks for the help!
pmccracken Posted July 1, 2004 Author Posted July 1, 2004 My advice would to to return to that category and fill out an update form. In fact' date=' this link[/url"] should take you to where you need to go. OK, I have processed another update form as requested via the link you provided. What do I do now? Don't want to violate any submission guidelines. Regards
Meta nea Posted July 1, 2004 Meta Posted July 1, 2004 This one was received and is waiting for review in http://dmoz.org/Business/Financial_Services/Venture_Capital/Resources_for_Entrepreneurs/Capital_Access_-_Financing/ . We ask all submitters to wait six months between each status request - this has no bearing on how long it will take for your request to be processed, it is just a rule for the Resource-Zone forums. So if you haven't seen anything happen to the listing by Jan 1, 2005, you are welcome back for another status report. Thank you! Curlie Meta and kMeta editor nea
pmccracken Posted January 24, 2005 Author Posted January 24, 2005 As requested, about 1 1/2 months ago I processed a form on your site containing the following: Site: http://www.ventureline.com Current Category: http://dmoz.org/Business/Financial_Services/Venture_Capital/Resources_for_Entrepreneurs/Capital_Access_-_Financing/ New Category: http://dmoz.org/Computers/Software/Business/Investing/Fundamental_Analysis/ New Description: Financial analysis online: Financial statement analysis includes 28 accounting ratios. Industry analysis includes industry ratios comparison to company performance. Is it possible to obtain a status of my request? Thank you. Hi, Thank you. We received the new description, but was not moved to the category that goes hand-in-hand with the new description. Can we be moved to the above named New Category. Thank you in advance.
Meta hutcheson Posted January 24, 2005 Meta Posted January 24, 2005 No. At any rate, not by asking here. There is no mechanism for getting a guaranteed category change. The only mechanism for requesting one is via "update URL." I'd guess, since you already tried that, that it probably won't happen. I'd further guess that there's a subtle difference between the categories that you overlooked. But if you're sure you understand the difference, and you're sure the site is in the wrong category, and you're sure that your website really describes your business (the last is critical and surprisingly often fatal....) then you can try the "update URL" with "reason for change" as "suggest different category xxx for reason bla bla bla..." Also, to make absolutely sure the editor doesn't overlook the change, put in the "suggested description" something in brackets like "[description is fine, but category change suggested.]"
