asifm Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 We are in the process of upgrading the site from asp to ASP.Net which requires some URL changes. We are listed under the category http://dmoz.org/Computers/Programming/Internet/ASP/Directories/ and Current url is pointing to the page at http://www.devasp.com/Search/Displayc.asp I have requested a url change to http://www.devasp.com/search/ Can someone tell me how long it usually takes to get the url change approved. I saw in my log files that some editor checked the url change request. But url is still the same. Our old url has been pointed to new url with a 301 Moved status.
spectregunner Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 There is really no way to predict. Change requests go in the same pools as do new submissions, but they are marked as an update, thus many (but not all) editors try and given them a priority. It appears that you have done the right things right! So now all you can do is wait.
Editall/Catmv arubin Posted May 7, 2004 Editall/Catmv Posted May 7, 2004 Since it does redirect, it's not urgent, is it?
asifm Posted May 7, 2004 Author Posted May 7, 2004 As this is a url change we lose backward link and google PR. Plus we will have to keep the old pages with redirect untill the url is change. I thought a URL change would be much faster then actual approval.
spectregunner Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 Often they are, but we cannot make any promises/commitments. And not to sound cold, but PR is not of concern to us.
thehelper Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 Plus if you do a 301 permanent redirect Google will catch it and transfer all the PR.
