coyotewildwoman Posted May 8, 2004 Posted May 8, 2004 Hi, We are in the submission process with ODP, in the queue, so to speak. However, we have decided to change our business name and also the url. How can I notify ODP of this change? We are going to have traffic redirected from our old site to our new url for the new month or so, but have not set this up as of yet. Is that redirect going to cause big problems? We want to save our old url as we plan to use it for another unrelated facet of our business in the future. Can anyone help? We don't want to run into problems getting our new site listed with ODP because we submitted our old site. We have not submitted the new site with ODP for review as of yet pending an answer. Thanks, W
sole Posted May 8, 2004 Posted May 8, 2004 1. First set up a permanent redirect on the old url. 2. Then go to the category where you submitted the site in the first place and click on the link that says, "update listing" and fill out the form there.
Meta hutcheson Posted May 8, 2004 Meta Posted May 8, 2004 Um, you don't yet have a listing to update, do you? Suggest the new URL. At the end of the suggested description, put in brackets [this replaces the old bla-bla-bla.com submittal -- the business name has changed] Then make sure that when the editor goes to bla-bla-bla.com, the NEW name and URL appears. (Because we are site reviewers, not site submittal approvals -- there is an enormous conceptual difference there!)
