Trailblazer Posted May 15, 2004 Posted May 15, 2004 We have requested a change in category for our site a year ago and there was no action taken and there was no feedback. We have again requested the same category change request and will be interested in finding out if it is queued for review, accepted or rejected. Any feedback or status information will be highly appreciated.
Meta hutcheson Posted May 15, 2004 Meta Posted May 15, 2004 Give the usual information: what category is it in (answer with a clickable link) and we can give the usual status.
Trailblazer Posted May 15, 2004 Author Posted May 15, 2004 Hi Hutcheson, Please note that the site is listed in the following category. Top: Shopping: Sports: Soccer: Equipment http://www.dmoz.com/Shopping/Sports/Soccer/Equipment/ and we have requested it to be moved to: Business: Consumer Goods and Services: Sporting Goods http://www.dmoz.com/Business/Consumer_Goods_and_Services/Sporting_Goods/ The site has evolved over the years. The category it is currently in was appropriate for it 3 years ago and we believe the new category Business: Consumer Goods and Services: Sporting Goods will be more appropriate now. Thanks
sole Posted May 16, 2004 Posted May 16, 2004 The request is there waiting for an editor to look at it. I understand that you have a lot more on your site than you did before. It still looks like a Shopping site to me. My guess would be that it belongs in Shopping/Sports - although I'm not really a Business or Shopping editor.
Trailblazer Posted May 16, 2004 Author Posted May 16, 2004 Thanks for your response. It is a shopping site and the category you have mentioned is also right for the site. Do I need to request the change to shopping/sports category? Thank you so much for your response.
spectregunner Posted May 16, 2004 Posted May 16, 2004 I'm really confused now. The site is a shopping site. The site is in a shopping category, but possibly not the correct one since your business has grown/changed. So you submitted an update request to move out of shopping into a business category. But you also want a shopping listing. ----- If all of the above is essentially correct, then resubmit your update request showing the shopping category you believe is more appropriate. You won't appear in both Business and Shopping.
Trailblazer Posted May 16, 2004 Author Posted May 16, 2004 Once again thanks for your response. I did made a mistake of requesting a change to consumer sporting goods instead of shopping/sporting goods. Thanks for making me realize the correct category for the site. I have resubmitted again the request is to move from: Shopping: Sports: Soccer: Equipment http://www.dmoz.org/Shopping/Sports/Soccer/Equipment/ TO Top: Shopping: Sports http://www.dmoz.com/Shopping/Sports/ Thanks so much.
Trailblazer Posted June 16, 2004 Author Posted June 16, 2004 Hello, Apparently our request was not approved to move the site to the shopping/sports category. Any feedback to the decision made will be highly appreciated.
Meta kokopeli Posted June 16, 2004 Meta Posted June 16, 2004 There is no record of an update being submitted, except for the one where you asked to be moved to Business: Consumer Goods and Services: Sporting Goods. I moved it, since a misplaced site does the end-user no good and it no longer belonged there.
Trailblazer Posted June 16, 2004 Author Posted June 16, 2004 Thanks so much for your reply. I intially requested it to be moved to http://www.dmoz.com/Business/Consum...Sporting_Goods/ but it was suggested that the shopping category is more appropriate for our site since we have an online shopping cart and products can be ordered over the internet. I later requested it to be moved to http://www.dmoz.com/Shopping/Sports/ If possible please let me know which category you have moved the site to. Appreciate your time and help very much.
Meta kokopeli Posted June 16, 2004 Meta Posted June 16, 2004 I listed it in Shopping/Sports. I did consider business, but the primary to me appeared to be shopping IMO, since you sell singles and offer the opportunity for more. I included a ref. to you offering wholesale. If you don't like what the desc. says, you would need to submit an update.
Trailblazer Posted June 16, 2004 Author Posted June 16, 2004 Thank you so much. We are finally in the right category Appreciate it very much.
