networkcables Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 I submitted our site to the ODP a while ago (few weeks). And I am wondering on the status of the listing. Thank you, Chris
bobrat Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 [readme]Please read the guidelines[/readme] and post in the format as requested there. Also ensure that a few weeks is in fact at least a month.
networkcables Posted May 24, 2004 Author Posted May 24, 2004 My bad, here is the link that the site was submitted http://dmoz.org/Computers/Hardware/Cables/
networkcables Posted May 24, 2004 Author Posted May 24, 2004 Do I need to resubmit my status question? Do I need to resubmit my question in the format you requested or just reply here?
donwiebe Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 You just need to be more patient. The submission has been received and is awaiting review.
networkcables Posted June 8, 2004 Author Posted June 8, 2004 Question on Checking if my site is listed... I know that my site is still under review. But, how do I check if my site is listed. Do I just do a search for the URL of my site? Or do I just go to the location I submitted and look for it? Sorry for the dumb question.
bobrat Posted June 8, 2004 Posted June 8, 2004 Search for the url, e.g. type in abc.com def.org, etc. This works for most, although sometimes will not work for long URLs like abc-def-ghi-jkl.com Going to the categroy does not always work, since it may have been accepted but moved to another category.
donwiebe Posted June 8, 2004 Posted June 8, 2004 You can also come back here and ask about it every six months.
networkcables Posted July 27, 2004 Author Posted July 27, 2004 This might need to moved to a different subforum... I have been looking at the subforums and I am think that my site status request might be better placed under Site Submission Status\Shopping. Can you move this thread there? Or do I need to do something else? Also, I want to note that there has been some changes in the web site that was submitted for http://www.networkcablesonline.com there has been the addition of FAQs and articles. Thanks, Chris
networkcables Posted March 8, 2005 Author Posted March 8, 2005 I am checking the status of this submission. It has been a long time since I have heard anything. Thank you for your patience, chris
Editall/Catmv arubin Posted March 8, 2005 Editall/Catmv Posted March 8, 2005 There is at least one, and probably two copies of that suggestion waiting for review in that category. Do not resubmit the site anywhere outside Regional. You may ask again in another 6 months.
networkcables Posted March 8, 2005 Author Posted March 8, 2005 Please forgive but what do you mean by: "Do not resubmit the site anywhere outside Regional." Also when you say: "You may ask again in another 6 months." Does that mean that the previous 10 months don't count? So, a total of 16 months? Are you guys that much back logged? Do you need help?
uzs980 Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 "Do not resubmit the site anywhere outside Regional" means that you should not resubmit your site to any topical category, because your site is already waiting for review in a topical category (Computers: Hardware: Cables). If your site were relevant for a Regional category it could be submitted there. This would be the case if you also had a local store where one could go and buy a cable. But it seems that you don't have one. We do not know when your submission will be reviewed. If may be tomorrow, it may be next year. Editors are not required to review site suggestions by order of submission. There are many sites waiting for review, so it might take some time. It doesn't make sense to ask for the status every month, so we ask you (and any other submitter) to wait six months between status requests. But maybe your next request will not be necessary, because your site might get listed in the mean time.
networkcables Posted March 8, 2005 Author Posted March 8, 2005 Thank you very much for clearing up the Regional question. Makes total sense. And thank you for clearing up the inquiry question as well. I understand. I think what you guys are doing is good work. I really do appreciate the work you guys do to provide links to quality web sites rather than letting any spammer web site to be listed. I will be patient and will inquire in another 6 months. I actually do use dmoz on a regular basis. It helps me find information better than other web directories.
Editall/Catmv arubin Posted March 8, 2005 Editall/Catmv Posted March 8, 2005 We can always use help. Please look at our instructions for how to apply to apply to become an editor.
networkcables Posted April 12, 2005 Author Posted April 12, 2005 Applying to be an editor We can always use help. Please look at our instructions for how to apply to apply to become an editor. I have tried to apply 3 times, 2 times I got good responses as to why I was denied but, I never heard on the 3rd time. It is possible to apply too many times?
Editall/Catmv arubin Posted April 12, 2005 Editall/Catmv Posted April 12, 2005 Unless one of the responses said something like "we wish you well in other endeavors", you may apply again. Perhaps you're closer to having a good application and the reviewing editor needed to take time for more consideration. In any case, after 2 weeks have passed from your last application, you may ask in the "Becoming an Editor" forum.
