Guest Posted November 19, 2002 Posted November 19, 2002 Hello, A few weeks ago we were listed in DMOZ at http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Electrical/Lighting/Handcrafted/ Unfortunately the editor made a mistake on our URL. I have since entered a request to have it changed. Can you advise as to the status of this request? Thanks a bunch! barneswagner
apeuro Posted November 19, 2002 Posted November 19, 2002 Your URL will remain as http://store.yahoo.com/tiffany-lamps-store/ . For an explanation why, see this thread.
Guest Posted November 19, 2002 Posted November 19, 2002 Re: Request Status-http://www.tiffany-lamps-store. Thank you for your quick reply. I now understand the rules... my concern is with search engines. Any idea how this might affect standing on search engines since we heavily promote our rooted domain name everywhere else? My guess is that search engines will see this as two different sites. Thanks again. barneswagner
Meta hutcheson Posted November 19, 2002 Meta Posted November 19, 2002 Re: Request Status-http://www.tiffany-lamps-store. Google is pretty good at seeing only one site, and giving it the total page rank of the links to all the aliases. I can't speak for "other important search engines," if that phrase hasn't become an oxymoron.
