z00618 Posted June 2, 2004 Posted June 2, 2004 Status of http://www.keepsakephotographybysherry.com I have submitted our family business website to dmoz for listing with no success. The site is http://www.keepsakephotographybysherry.com Can you give me feedback on what I'm doing wrong? The content is informative, factual, in support of a real business, and contains examples of our work. There are no HTML errors. I'm stumped. Thanks for any feedback.

z00618 Posted June 2, 2004 Author Posted June 2, 2004 I first submitted the site to dmoz nine months ago. The site has been picked up by google, yahoo, and excite, but as of yet...no dmoz. My html checks yield no mistakes and the graphics are all optimized for quick download. Still, no listing. Similar websites (my wife's colleagues) are listed so I can't imagine that it's a content problem, so again...I'm stumped. Can you give any suggestions? P.S. I now have a hyperlink in the original message.
donwiebe Posted June 2, 2004 Posted June 2, 2004 We need a clickable link to the dmoz.org category you submitted the site to.
z00618 Posted June 4, 2004 Author Posted June 4, 2004 Link to category Here's the hyperlink to the category I've been trying to submit to: (thanks) http://www.dmoz.org/Business/Arts_and_Entertainment/Photography/Photographers/Wedding_and_Events/North_America/United_States/Arizona/
senox Posted June 4, 2004 Posted June 4, 2004 The site is awaiting review in the category you mentioned.
spectregunner Posted June 4, 2004 Posted June 4, 2004 You may (or may not) also be eligible for a listing within the Regional portion of your directory, specifically in the locality where you have your offices/studio. For example, if your studio is in Glendale, you would seek a listing in http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Arizona/Localities/G/Glendale/Arts_and_Entertainment In Regional, we care about where you are physically located, not about the area you serve. Your website is foggy about where you are located, other than the 623 area code and a vague reference to greater Phoenix, and you would need to have an address somewhere on the site. Your site is also a bit thin on unique content when compared to other photographers. You have no real pricing, no samples of your work, etc., and you might want to address that before making a regional submission.
z00618 Posted June 7, 2004 Author Posted June 7, 2004 Thanks for the update. What is the typical waiting period?
z00618 Posted June 7, 2004 Author Posted June 7, 2004 Thanks for the feedback. Based on the current listings in the Regional category, I don't think that our website would "fit" as well there. The work samples you suggested are available via "links" from the Wedding Photography page and the Family Photography page.
z00618 Posted September 6, 2004 Author Posted September 6, 2004 http://www.keepsakephotographybysherry.com I submitted our website, http://www.keepsakephotographybysherry.com to http://dmoz.org/business/arts and entertainment/photography/photographers/wedding and events/North America/United States/Arizona for consideration about six months ago. It has not been listed to date. The site represents a legitimate business that has been in operation for ten years, contains accurate information about the services offered, includes examples of our work in optimized-graphics, and has no HTML errors. Why has it not been listed? Our colleagues in the Greater Phoenix area have had success with their submittals and we just wondered if we have neglected to include something. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
bobrat Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 Please read http://resource-zone.com/forum/faq.php?faq=odp#faq_how_long and Secondary status checks now require a six month wait. Please see http://resource-zone.com/forum/announcement.php?f=22 Thanks.
