mwistreich Posted June 7, 2004 Posted June 7, 2004 I submitted our portal, http://www.jimcurley.com, approx. 5 weeks ago for inclusion into the businesses (regional) category, per the submission guidelines I was shown when referred via Microsoft Business Central - I was instructed to check here on the forum if I saw no update in approx. one month. Is my submission still pending, do I need to amend anything, or do I need to resubmit completely? Your comments are appreciated. Mike Wistreich sales@jimcurley.com mwistreich@comcast.net
Meta pvgool Posted June 7, 2004 Meta Posted June 7, 2004 we need a clickable link to the category into which you suggested your site I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
mwistreich Posted June 8, 2004 Author Posted June 8, 2004 link to requested submission for http://www.jimcurley.com Sorry about that. I submitted http://www.jimcurley.com to the Open Directory under http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/New_Jersey/ per the instructions given when referred from Microsoft bCentral. Any info you can provide concerning the status of my submission, and if I need to amend or repeat the submission, would be appreciated.
senox Posted June 10, 2004 Posted June 10, 2004 I can't see any evidence that a submission for this site was received in the category you mentioned. I suggest you resubmit, but this time to http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/New_Jersey/Localities/L/Lakewood/Business_and_Economy/ where you are located. BTW, due to a coding problem the GMC Professional and the Pontiac links on your entry page don't seem to work in Netscape (Mozilla) browsers, in Internet Explorer it's OK. This will not prevent your site from being accepted, but it may delay the process if the editor who visits your site uses Netscape. It may also prevent some potential customers from having access to parts of your site.
mwistreich Posted June 10, 2004 Author Posted June 10, 2004 thanks for your response Thanks for getting back to me - I just re-submitted to the link you suggested. As far as not being supported by Netscape, we are in the process of optimizing some of our internel pages, and will probably submit them separately.
senox Posted June 10, 2004 Posted June 10, 2004 As far as not being supported by Netscape, we are in the process of optimizing some of our internel pages, and will probably submit them separately. Please don't do that! Just the main URL to the most appropriate category is enough, more than that might be considered spamming. You do not need to optimize your site for Netscape or any other browser to get a DMOZ listing. I just wanted to make you aware of a coding issue on your entry page which may cause problems on some browsers. Nothing more. Your webdesigner should be able to fix this within a few minutes.
