Willow31 Posted June 8, 2004 Posted June 8, 2004 I'm terribly sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I just submitted my site to dmoz, and I was just wondering if I put it in the right place. It is a board all about one show, "Gilmore Girls" the most specific category I could find however was "Forums and Chats" under Television. I read that only boards about more then one show are supposed to go there though, so I wasn't sure what to do with my boards....can anyone help me? If its in the wrong place is there anyway to move it? Thanks so much!

Meta hutcheson Posted June 8, 2004 Meta Posted June 8, 2004 To try to make this a more generally useful thread: There's a reason our top-level categories aren't "Directories, Chats&Forums, Articles, Blogs, Magazines&E-zines, Resources, Media". A good reason. Those are FORMS. The most important aspect of a site is its SUBJECT. You should follow your SUBJECT down as far as you can go. Unless a given subject has a LOT of sites, we won't divide up into FORMS at all. Chats will rub shoulders with picture galleries and fan pages and audio files. What you did wrong, you should be able to see now. But a lot of sites wait six months or more just to be moved out to the appropriate site, because some submitter made this mistake. (There, did that get your attention?) And that simplifies matters for people who really wouldn't think like spammers if they weren't so ignorant: "I have a chat room and a movie review and some pictures and my own personal blather. Let me see, that's four different things, I'd better submit to them all." Just don't. A word to the wise.
Willow31 Posted June 13, 2004 Author Posted June 13, 2004 So I guess I put it in the wrong place, so is there anyway I could move it? I'm really sorry...but I guess that link that djdeeds posted is the place where it really belongs..thanks!
Meta hutcheson Posted June 13, 2004 Meta Posted June 13, 2004 Just submit it once more. Two submittals, the second one actually in a helpful place, doesn't make you much of a spammer. (OK, alright, it's allowed by the official policies and can't be considered spam at all.)
Willow31 Posted June 15, 2004 Author Posted June 15, 2004 ok thank you so much! I just wanted to make sure that I wouldn't be spamming if I submitted it again.
