Hannah Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 Hello I submitted my website http://www.reservationsoftware.net in the category http://dmoz.org/Business/Hospitality/Software/Property_Management_Systems/ almost 6 months ago. Please let me know the submission status of this site. Thanks for your help Hannah
Meta kokopeli Posted June 11, 2004 Meta Posted June 11, 2004 It was denied, please see http://dmoz.org/guidelines/include.html#notinclude
Hannah Posted June 18, 2004 Author Posted June 18, 2004 http://www.reservationsoftware.net They are 2 different sites. We follow the Dmoz rules very strictly and the content is rich and unique . They are genuine sites. This site was not created for search engine purposes but for the end users with high quality content. I am awaiting a positive answer from you. Thanks, Hannah
marcelfeenstra Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 Interesting. Even though meta editor kokopeli gave you a generic answer (simply pointing to the guidelines), you seem able to infer the specific reason why the listing was denied... almost as if you had already expected this decision?! They are 2 different sites. Exactly which two sites do you refer to? (Just curious to know if they are the same sites that I have in mind... )
Sara Corinne Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 Response from Marketing Director, Sara Corinne Dear Editor, Ms. Hannah has requested that I review her discussions with you in regards to submission of reservationsoftware.net. Reservationsoftware.net is a site that we have been developing to market a new version of software called Easy InnKeeping Suite. Since this is a version of the same product it is true that some information will be very similar to easyinnkeeping.com. However - some features and also network capability differentiates Easy InnKeeping Suite which is featured on reservationsoftware.net. You will see this reflected clearly when you review pricing, system requirement, affiliated vendors and feature comparison pages. We are currently target marketing Easy InnKeeping Suite software version on reservationsoftware.net to the market this product is designed to serve - small to medium hotels, motels, condominiums - usually 40-100 rooms and is network capable. You will see pricing, vendor references and system requirements reflect this. See http://www.reservationsoftware.net/products/pricing.htm http://www.reservationsoftware.net/products/systemreq.htm http://www.reservationsoftware.net/resources/vendorlisting.htm Easy InnKeeping Basic, Deluxe and Premier versions are marketed and sold from http://www.easyinnkeeping.com/products/pricing.htm and are targeted towards single computer installations at properties 1-50 rooms max. http://www.easyinnkeeping.com/products/pricing.htm http://www.easyinnkeeping.com/resources/vendorlisting.htm http://www.easyinnkeeping.com/products/systemrequirements.htm I would appreciate if you would take a closer look at these two sites and provide a more educated response and review. Thank you- I look forward to your reply. Sara Corinne Account Manager GraceSoft 10333 Harwin Dr, Suite 555 Houston, TX 77036
spectregunner Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 Let's just keep this real simple: One company - one website - one listing. That is the basic rule. There are certaint exceptions, but until you grasp the basic concept, there is no point in discussion those exceptions.
bobrat Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 Another way of looking at it, is that spreading the content of a company over multiple web sites, does not create the ability to have multiple listings in ODP. However, I'd also lkike the rules to change, since I'm a software developer that has software for very diverse markets, and also would like to have a listing in each software category, rather than being stuck under a general software developer category.
