WebDude Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 Please check http://MyFishingPals.com in the following directory... http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Minnesota/Recreation_and_Sports/Fishing/ Thanks!
senox Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 The submission was not accepted about two months ago because the site was under construction --> insufficient content. If this has changed in the meantime and you've added substantially more content then you may resubmit. Consider the decision as 'site is not ready yet', and don't take it personal. Thanks.
WebDude Posted June 16, 2004 Author Posted June 16, 2004 I humbly beg to differ sir. The site was up and running for at least a year before I submitted it to dmoz. I know what a stickler it is to get a site listed, There were no construction pages and all content was new, relevant and is still being updated daily. I have been submitting my sites to dmoz for over 5 years and have full knowledge as to what it takes and all the requirements. However, I understand that I cannot appeal so I will re-submit the site and wait for several months before checking again. Sorry to rant, but the process is so slow and when mistakes are made, we are penalized with no recourse. Thank You WebDude
WebDude Posted June 21, 2004 Author Posted June 21, 2004 Please check to status in http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Outdoors/Fishing/Freshwater/ The site was accepted in the regional listings. I am curious about the recreational listing, if that is pertinent. Is it possible to have it in both Regional and Recreational? Thank you for your time. p.s. Sorry if I was not supposed to start a new thread. The original was for status in the Regional dirctory.
donwiebe Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 You shouldn't have started a new thread, but I've merged the two, so don't worry about it. Is it possible to have it in both Regional and Recreational? If the site is both relevant to the topic of the [cat]Recreation/[/cat] category and the locally relevant to the [cat]Regional/[/cat] category, yes it is possible (though not guaranteed). However, I ca'n't find a submission for that URL in the [cat]Recreation/[/cat] category, and there is no record of it having been reviewed there.
WebDude Posted June 21, 2004 Author Posted June 21, 2004 Do you think I should resubmit? I am unsure of the Recreation category. It may have been... http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Outdoors/Fishing/Chats_and_Forums/ or http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Outdoors/Fishing/Personal_Pages/ or http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Outdoors/Fishing/
senox Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 A recent submission is awaiting review in Chats and Forums, and an older one in Personal Pages. There were no construction pages and all content was new, relevant and is still being updated daily. I have no idea what your site looked like back in April, but maybe the updates since then made the difference when your site was recently accepted. We don't reject sites just for fun and, as you've seen, it doesn't necessarily take months to get a review.
WebDude Posted June 22, 2004 Author Posted June 22, 2004 Thank you for the update senox. I was actually suprised to find the site reviewed in such a timely manner. I appreciate also the quick responses to my questions. I will wait several months and check back on this thread to see if the site is accepted in another catagory.
WebDude Posted August 19, 2004 Author Posted August 19, 2004 Could you please check on http://MyFishingPals.com again. It was awaiting in... http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Outdoors/Fishing/Personal_Pages/ and http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Outdoors/Fishing/Chats_and_Forums/ Thank you very much! WebDude
WebDude Posted January 11, 2005 Author Posted January 11, 2005 Could you please check the status for http://MyFishingPals.com in the following directories... http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Outdoors/Fishing/Chats_and_Forums/ and http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Outdoors...Personal_Pages/ The reason it is in 2 directories is because I am unsure as to where to place the site... Thank you very much! WebDude
spectregunner Posted January 20, 2005 Posted January 20, 2005 It was deleted, as a duplicate submission, from in Recreation/Outdoors/Fishing, so I guess you must have submitted it there as well.
WebDude Posted January 20, 2005 Author Posted January 20, 2005 Well, that is part of my question. I had submitted it to several directories because I am unsure as to where to put this site. I would like to know if it is still in the que for the directories below. And if it is, will whoever approves the submission put it in the most appropriate place and delete the other? That is what I am hoping for. Not sure how you guys work this type of thing. What i hope will not happen is having it just deleted from all the ques because of multiple submissions. Any help would be appreciated. The original submissions were done in April of 2004 and I would hate to have to start all over by resubmitting. Thanks for your reply! bobrat Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 Sorry, no change in Recreation - you haven't managed to catch an editor yet. [still listed in Regional/North_America/United_States/Minnesota/Recreation_and_Sports/Fishing]
WebDude Posted January 24, 2005 Author Posted January 24, 2005 Thanks alot bobrat, guess I'll have to wait another 6 months and check again. Do you know if it is still in both directories if I may inquire? http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Outdoors/Fishing/Chats_and_Forums/ and http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Outdoors/Fishing/Personal_Pages/ And may I inquire if it is a problem having it in both? Thanks
