Firepearl Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 Hello. I submitted my request well over a month ago and have yet to see it. Understand that you folks may be swamped by the sheer numbers of Shopping:Jewelry submissions but would like to at least confirm that my site is in the queue to be reviewed. My site URL: http:// http://www.rubylane.com/shops/firepearl was submitted for inclusion in DMOZ directory: http://www.dmoz.org/Shopping/Jewelry/Handcrafted/ Initially, I submitted the request using my own domain name: http://www.firepearlartisans.com but then a friend told me you would not accept this because it simply redirects people to my website at Ruby Lane, so I resubmitted with the direct Ruby Lane URL. Appreciate any information you can provide regarding my site status. Thanks for your assistance! Heather
sole Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 Your friend was right about the redirect. :-) For status checks we ask for a clickable link to the dmoz category to which you submitted. We have other things you should know in our forum guidelines. [readme]readme[/readme]
Firepearl Posted June 17, 2004 Author Posted June 17, 2004 Thanks for the editorial assistance, Sole! I think I've got the required info, in the proper format. Regards. Heather
Firepearl Posted June 29, 2004 Author Posted June 29, 2004 Still wondering about the status of www.rubylane.com/shops/firepearl Hello. Sorry to post again but I am truly anxious to get word on my listing in the dmoz directory. Any chance someone could give me an idea of what is happening with my submission. It's been nearly 3 months since I submitted and I'm beginning to wonder if I've been lost. I do see that several other sites, some newer than my own, have already been added to the directory. Again, I realize you all are terrifically busy, but the dmoz listing truly is critical to my small shop. Thanks for your assistance. Best regards. Heather
donwiebe Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 Sorry for the delay in responding. I think your request accidentally was missed. Your submission has been received and is awaiting review in [cat]Shopping/Jewelry/Handcrafted/Bead_and_Gemstone/[/cat]. More than three months is an not unusual time for review of a submission (it's probably on short side). For more details, see the FAQ. I'd encourage you to seek other methods of advertising; placing the success of your business on a dmoz review which may not happen for some time is risky at best. If you don't see it listed sometime in the next six months, please feel free to return for a status update on or after 28 December.
Firepearl Posted June 29, 2004 Author Posted June 29, 2004 Thanks for your response. I'm delighted we're in the queue for consideration. We're certainly building links, paying for advertising, and doing all we can to promote the shop in a highly competitive category. However, the DMOZ does wield some weight in that I understand the directory is used by Google, Altavista, Yahoo and others as a source for their own directories. Thanks again for taking the time to respond. I look forward to eventually being listed here. Best regards. Heather
