ABantin Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 Hi, The company I work for already has a listing in DMOZ (which needs updating), however we were recently acquired and have taken on new products and services which clearly apply to more than one category. Is it possible to be listed in more than one category? I haven't been able to find anything on the DMOZ site that says anything about this... Thanks
bobrat Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 Generally no. You can expect one listing in the subject area e.g. Business, and one in a Regional category, if you have a location. But not every site gets both of those. Some may get more, but that's an editors discretion, and we don't want site owners making extra submssions to categories. If you sell watermelons and space ships, you could expect extras categories, but if you sell watermelons and bean sprouts, probably not. [You can also get extra listings in World, for multi-language sites]
ABantin Posted June 21, 2004 Author Posted June 21, 2004 Thanks for the reply. Well, these are two categories that apply... Top: Computers: Software: Educational: Administration and School Management: Scheduling Utilities Top: Reference: Education: Distance Learning: Online Teaching and Learning: E-learning Companies I would argue they were separate enough to warrant more than one listing. As you say that will be at the discretion of the editor when the site is submitted. But if an editor did take that decision, must an editor of the alternate category also review the site?
