oolala Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 While i was surfing the site, i have found one category which is not edited since May 29, 2003 and category is http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Designers/Freelance/I/ Since I am new for this forum so I am not sure how frequently editors update the categories. Have a good day
spectregunner Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 Editors update categories whenever they do. That is not intended to be a smart-alek response, but rather it is the truth. Some categories may not need to be updated. Some categories need to be updated, but the editors spend most of their time wading through spam and bogus submissions (whcih don't show as updates) that they rarely get aorund to doing updates. Some categories need to be updated, but the editors don't want to edit there, and no one can make an editor edit where they do not wish to. Some editors attack categories with lots of submissions, so they can feel a sense of accomplishment. Some editors attack categories with very few submissions, so they can feel a sense of accomplishment. Some editors completely ignore submissions and concentrate on other aspects of building a directory. Some editors find it more rewarding to surf for new sites, rather than having to deal with submissions. ------ So from the above, you can see that it is very difficult to generalize. Does the fact that you found a cat that had not been updated in more than a year surprize me? Not at all. Do we wish that it never happened? Mostly, but we do realize that it does not necessarily mean that anything is wrong, since that are more than 590,000 categories and only about 10,000 active editors. Good question, hope you found the long-winded response useful.
