Guest Posted December 4, 2002 Posted December 4, 2002 I need some assistance. I looks as though a category has changed where I need to update the URL of a website. The website is www.ramsierandcompany.com and it needs to be changed to www.ramsier.com. When searching for the site in the OPD I get this category: Regional: North America: United States: Ohio: Localities: C: Canton: Business and Economy: Real Estate, but the site is not listed there. Is it listed somewhere else that I can make the change, or can the change be made from this post? Thanks
uzs980 Posted December 4, 2002 Posted December 4, 2002 The URL was taken down from that category some days ago as it could no longer be reached. Feel free to resubmit the new URL to Regional: North America: United States: Ohio: Localities: C: Canton: Business and Economy: Real Estate. You may mention the old URL at the end of the description, perhaps like this: "Serving buyers and sellers of real estate in the Stark County area. [Note to editor: used to be ramsierandcompany.com]" Yours, Robert
Guest Posted December 4, 2002 Posted December 4, 2002 Thanks very much for your fast reply. I am not surprised about it being taken down. We recently took over the hosting and maintenance of the site and the previous company took the site down instead of transferring it. Gotta like people when they handle things so professionally, eh?
Guest Posted December 4, 2002 Posted December 4, 2002 You get this category because unfortunately the search database is not up to date. Your listing has been removed because we got an error with the first URL, but there are editors working on such problems. I've notified them of the new URL, but you may have to wait some time before the site will be re-added, provided the content is still OK. Webmasters should inform us as soon as possible in case of URL changes (use the URL update button in the category where your site is listed). We may not change it immediately, but if we get URL errors the first thing we're usually looking for is if there's an URL update request. If not, the whole procedure can take much longer, or your site may even be completely removed if we can't find it.
apeuro Posted December 4, 2002 Posted December 4, 2002 I've updated the listing for you. Enjoy. <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />
