Deadline is past now, and we still don't appear anywhere. I don't mean to make a fuss, but I'm just curious about the reason why we're being left out as all the other companies I know that do what we do are listed in /Computers/Security/Products_and_Tools/Software_Protection_and_License_Control/

Regards, and Happy New Year to the dmoz team.

Computers/Security/Products_and_Tools/Software_Protection_and_License_Control/ is in the process of being reorganised at the moment - so is likely to move to another location in the directory.

Could you provide some clarity around the smart card/USB stuff you produce?

Computers/Security/Products_and_Tools/Software_Protection_and_License_Control/ is only for such things if they are primarily used for software protection (e.g. dongles that software will not work unless they are plugged in)?

From what I can see they are for more general authentication purposes than that. If you could explain what their primary use is it would help editors to place the site correctly.

e.g.

Computers/Security/Authentication/Access_Control_Hardware/ is for more general authentication hardware tokens. And looks like a better bet to me.

and there is also:

Computers/Hardware/Systems/Smartcards/

You are only permitted one listing - so if you could say which of the above best fits your product range and why that would be helpful.

Cheers,

Andy

Thank you for your quick reply.

Well actually, picking up a specific category depends on which of our products we're focusing.

Our main and most innovative product is Validy Technology. It's a method for protecting software that we (and external auditors) think is impossible to crack, unlike everything that's on the market today. It's based on remoting, in a secure manner, variables into a secure token, that can be a USB key or a smart card.

The name of that product is Validy Technology.

It clearly fits into Computers/Security/Products_and_Tools/Software_Protection_and_License_Control/

The reason why I picked up that category for our site is because I wanted to emphasize on Validy Technology.

Now of course, we have other products, a vast majority of which rely on secure tokens.

There's a file encryption product, a product for securing the access to web sites and encypting http data flows, a product for controlling the access to the Internet for employees or clients of cyber spaces, a product to check the authenticity of goods, etc.

But we are a software editor, and I mean by that that we supply complete software solution around the hardware that we sell. Not just a hardware token and an API, unlike other vendors.

So I feel that listing validy in a category such as Computers/Security/Authentication/Access_Control_Hardware/

or Smart_Cards would be too simplistic and would not correctly represent the added value that we provide.

Also, our star product and main innovation *is* Validy Technology. The other products are fine pieces of software that work well, but they're clearly not in the same league.

I think you only list web sites, not specific URLs, so you couldn't possibly make a link to the Validy Technology page.

That said, Validy Technology is the first product listed on the home page of http://www.validy.com .

Btw, I invite you to follow the link and read the quick presentation of that product, and possibly the technical white paper whose link is in that page, to get a better understanding of what we provide.

You can also have a look at http://www.validy-licensing.com

and of course feel free to contact me (pm@validy.com) if you have any questions.

Thanks again, PM.

Thanks for your intervention. I'm not sure what you mean by "I listed it" so I'll check in the next few days to see if Validy shows up in the software licensing category.

I also submitted validy.fr, thanks again for the tip.

It looks like it's there to me. Try http://dmoz.org/Computers/Security/Products_and_Tools/Software_Protection_and_License_Control/ .

Ignore the DMOZ search, Google directory, etc. They'll come in time.

DMOZ search last updated on Wednesday, 5 January, approximately 14 hours before Andy said he listed the site, so you'll have to wait (at least) another week for it to appear in the search results.

hmmm... my bad, there was apparently a cache issue with the page. I refreshed it and now Validy does appear in the list.

Thanks.
