tedhauser Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 (edited) I went to: http://rdf.dmoz.org/rdf/ and tried to download; structure.rdf.u8 and content.rdf.u8. Problem:structure.rdf.u8 that is 280MB would not stop downloading, before I cancelled the total download was 750MB. It was like the file kept loopng the same download. The same thing happened with content.rdf.u8. I tried this on 2 differnt computers. Equpiment: PC runnung, XP Pro, download rate; 300kb/sec. Can the webmaster answer this. -TH- Edited August 9, 2017 by Elper
bobrat Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 Did you try downloading the .gz files from http://rdf.dmoz.org/
xixtas01 Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 Hmm. I just downloaded the kt-content.rdf.u8.gz (which is supposed to be 2MB) and I got a 12 MB file. I went back a month repeated the download and observed the same behavior with that version of the file.
Meta theseeker Posted July 1, 2004 Meta Posted July 1, 2004 If you're downloading with Internet Explorer, it has a nasty habit of uncompressing it while downloading. The file size is for the compressed version. Due to the size of the files, it really isn't possible to download with IE. On Windows, I've found that Opera is the easiest to use for that.
giz Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 Did you "left-click" to download, or "right click and open in new window", or "right click and save file as.."? The latter method might work for you in IE. The others probably would not. Alternative. Get a browser like Mozilla, and use it for the job. You'll soon see how shoddy the Infector Extraordinaire really is. Mozilla 1.6 is a superb modern browser.
thatmtnman Posted August 17, 2004 Posted August 17, 2004 getting a similar problem....'badly formed' error Hi Ted, I just posted a similar question else where and discovered u r dealing with the issue. Thanks Frank
