Guest raja4 Posted December 5, 2002 Posted December 5, 2002 Hi, I'm inquiring about the status of my web site http://www.nonijuice.us/ . I have submitted it 2 times in last 6 months. I am not sure if I am spamming the directory. It's great that I found this web site. I submitted to the following category: http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/California/Localities/E/Elk_Grove/Business_and_Economy/ It took me 4 months to make a good web site. My web site is on Noni Juice and include very valuable information that is not available on 99% other web sites. I would like to be listed on internet at least in my community. I hope someone will reply to my post. Thank you. Jag
dfy Posted December 5, 2002 Posted December 5, 2002 Re: Status of my web site http://www.nonijuice.us/ Since you are a Noni Juice re-seller, your site will not be listed in the directory.
Meta hutcheson Posted December 5, 2002 Meta Posted December 5, 2002 Not eligible for listing anywhere. Where the submittal guidelines read "affiliate sites," you should interpret this functionally from the perspective of the surfer -- that is, any other scheme that looks and acts the same way, such as MLM sites with online sales, will be TREATED the same way by editors.
Guest raja4 Posted December 6, 2002 Posted December 6, 2002 I see. But how come these sites are added to this directory. All of these are MLM sites. vitavalley.com iwr.com/becalmd tahitiannoni.com/sandraphipps There are so many sites for keyword Viacreme, that is an MLM product.
Guest Posted December 7, 2002 Posted December 7, 2002 There are a few things here. First: the decision to not list resellers is only a few months old, so older listings may not have been noticed and removed yet. Second: the product manufacturers site is eligible for listing. (Ideally, for your purposes, they provide a link to their resellers sites, but it's not our concern). Third: search is out of date at the moment, so you need to check the actaul category to see if the site has been removed within the last 2 months. Regarding the sites you mentioned - in my opinion only 1 of them should be listed, and that with an altered URL. As I don't have editor priviliges in those categories I have to wait for the appropriate editor to do the alterations. Hope this helps. I know it isn't what you want to hear, sorry about that.
Guest raja4 Posted December 9, 2002 Posted December 9, 2002 I guess sites like vitavalley.com are acceptable? Please correct me if I am wrong.
Guest Posted December 10, 2002 Posted December 10, 2002 I really don't edit theses areas, but if vitavalley.com is the site of the manufacturer, yes it should be permissable. An exception to this would be where it is a 'product' site for a company. So if the company has 3 different lines of products, they don't get 3 listings. They generally would get the company site listed and then they should link to the products. Without looking too deeply I can't tell the specifics (thats what the listing editor does). There are always exceptions - a company selling shoes and toasters would probably be listed in each as there is no overlap, one selling shirts and socks would not be listed in each , but in the clothing cat that the two branch from. (all examples are imaginary). In your case unless you are the manufacturer or company owning the trademarked name I can't see any MLM type sites being listed or re listed.
Guest raja4 Posted December 10, 2002 Posted December 10, 2002 Thanks Gimmster. These are interesting rules. Anyway, this site (www.vitavalley.com) is a site of an affiliate and still listed in ODP. Actual company name is TriVita Way International, web site www.trivita.com. Thanks.
Guest Posted December 10, 2002 Posted December 10, 2002 Yeah, to be honest I worked that out in about 30 seconds, but wanted to answer your question in a more general fashion, rather than saying 'this site isn't acceptable because....' As I said, I don't edit that part of the directory, but I'm sure someone will notice it and take appropriate action. Note there may or may not be more layers to the onion, I only quickly glanced one level away as I wasn't actually reviewing the site. Again I have to say sites that were acceptable only a matter of 6 months ago are no longer permitted and those still listed are subject to review. This is not a common occurrence, but with MLM we ended up with huge categories of almost identical sites selling exactly the same products - no value to the user being presented with that type of category. Better to allow them to find a single manufacturers/product site and use the site to locate local distributors/agents/affiliates. <added> for a view of last December try http://web.archive.org/web/20011127035317/dmoz.org/Business/Opportunities/Networking-MLM/ </added> <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />
a1achris Posted May 7, 2005 Posted May 7, 2005 Noni Juice Hi, were are a noni supplier, we supply noni juice, noni honey, noni capsules and powder and noni concentrate. We are the direct farmers, is there also a problem with us listing on this site? we are not a MLM nor an affiliate, we are a farmer established small buisness selling bulk wholesale noni products from hawaii.
Guest gimmster Posted May 7, 2005 Posted May 7, 2005 Provided the site supports that, I don't see any problem. I'd also suggest you suggest to the location you are based in (the actual Locality) as it seems there is information on the farm on site. One copy is currently waiting for review in http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Food/Health_Food/Juice/ it appears. :tree:
