tariqali Posted December 8, 2002 Posted December 8, 2002 Hi, My site fitseek.com was listed in: http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Promotion/Pay-Per-Click_Advertising/Search_Engines/Specialized/ Then a major change happend to the category about two or three months ago and it got deleted. I resubmitted again to the same category: http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Promotion/Pay-Per-Click_Advertising/Search_Engines/Specialized/ About two months ago and it is not listed yet. I contacted the editor of: http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Promotion/Pay-Per-Click_Advertising/ and I got the following reply: I will look into this as soon as I may. I had not been notified by Open Directory Project that I had been reinstated as an editor after being inactive for about four years. Apparently, communication is a problem. Can you please check on it and let me know. I really appreciate it. Regards, Tariq
beebware Posted December 8, 2002 Posted December 8, 2002 Hmm, since a random check of your site reveals around 60% of the links to be affiliate links, your site is unlikely to be listed. It was deleted from the unreviewed queue of Computers/Internet/Searching/Search_Engines/Specialized/Pay-Per-Click/Content-Specific and removed from Computers/Internet/Searching/Search_Engines/Specialized/Pay-Per-Click/Small-Scale_Pay-Per-Click in September for being mainly affiliate links.
tariqali Posted December 8, 2002 Author Posted December 8, 2002 Affiliate links!!! All the results appear in the search result pages are for advertisers and results gathered from other search engines. I am not sure what you mean by 60% affiliate links. I don't even have one affiliate link listed in our database. Can you please clarify this more?
beebware Posted December 8, 2002 Posted December 8, 2002 The category I selected at random was 'Spas' and 60% of the links returned on that page takes you to affiliate search results such as http://partner.ah-ha.com/Clickthroughs/redirect.aspx?cid=4... , http://click.alltheweb.com/go2/2/atw/1c456A814D/MSxILHdlYg... , http://partner.ah-ha.com/Clickthroughs/redirect.aspx?cid=4... .
dfy Posted December 8, 2002 Posted December 8, 2002 Just so you don't feel like you're being persecuted, I also visited your site to see if Beebs had randomly hit a bad category. The one I chose at random was Shiatsu, where I found 5 of the 10 links were affiliates. Then I deliberately picked one that I thought would not have many affiliate schemes available, Diabetic_Supplies, and found that 6 of the first 10 were affiliates. What beebware said stands, your site is very unlikely to be listed.
tariqali Posted March 12, 2003 Author Posted March 12, 2003 Keep getting an invalid page Hi, I tried submitting my site http://www.fitseek.com to http://www.dmoz.com/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Promotion/Pay-Per-Click_Advertising/Search_Engines/Specialized/ but I keep getting invalid page after filling out the submission form. Is there a way to know if it was received or do I need to re-submit? I tried it twice and I got the same error. I hope that will not cause a problem.

tariqali Posted March 13, 2003 Author Posted March 13, 2003 Re: Keep getting an invalid page Is there something wrong with the submission page. Until now I keep getting "Cannot find server or DNS Error" when I press on "Submit"

tariqali Posted April 6, 2003 Author Posted April 6, 2003 Status: http://www.fitseek.com I would like a status on my site http://www.fitseek.com which I submitted to http://www.dmoz.com/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Promotion/Pay-Per-Click_Advertising/Search_Engines/Specialized/ Thanks.
Meta windharp Posted April 7, 2003 Meta Posted April 7, 2003 Re: Status: http://www.fitseek.com It is waiting for review in a rather smart queue. Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
tariqali Posted April 7, 2003 Author Posted April 7, 2003 Re: Status: http://www.fitseek.com smart queue What do you mean?
Meta windharp Posted April 8, 2003 Meta Posted April 8, 2003 Re: Status: http://www.fitseek.com that there are only few sites waiting to be reviewed in that category. Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
tariqali Posted April 19, 2003 Author Posted April 19, 2003 Re: Status: http://www.fitseek.com I haven't seen any new site in that category for a while now. Also, that category has no editor. Can someone take a look at it and process some of the sites awaiting to be reviewed. Thanks.
motsa Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 Re: Status: http://www.fitseek.com Someone will get to it eventually. [edited to add: be thankful that no one decided to do that right now since your site currently is just showing a "The SSL/TLS-aware Apache webserver was successfully installed on this website. " message. Had I been cleaning out the queue for that category in response to your "request", your site would have been deleted.]
tariqali Posted March 2, 2004 Author Posted March 2, 2004 Re: Status: http://www.fitseek.com Hello, I would really appreciate it if you can give me a status on this site http://www.fitseek.com which was submitted more than two months ago "Again" to this category: http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Promotion/Pay-Per-Click_Advertising/Search_Engines/Specialized/ I have contacted the editor of the pay per click category and didn't receive a response. Can someone let me know what is the status of this site. thank you for your time.
yapuka Posted March 2, 2004 Posted March 2, 2004 Re: Status: http://www.fitseek.com It's awaiting review in that category.
tariqali Posted March 27, 2004 Author Posted March 27, 2004 It's awaiting review in that category. It has been more than two months now awaiting for a review. I have tried contacting the editors there and I got no response. Can someone take a look at it please. Thank you.
spectregunner Posted March 27, 2004 Posted March 27, 2004 We looked at it on 3/2. If you want a status check, come back after 4/2. Editors rarely respond to submitters because experience and documented history has shown that entirely too many aggressive submitters get very, very nasty when they don't get the answer they want to hear.
