rzrhnds Posted July 13, 2004 Posted July 13, 2004 Hello, Please help. We submitted our site http://www.realdiesel.com about a month ago. I can go to the category where it was listed, "Shopping: Vehicles: Parts and Accessories: Engine: Fuel", and find our site no problem. But when I go to the dmoz homepage for instance and do a search with keywords like "diesel fuel injection" or "injection pump" or even our listing title "Real Diesel Injection Service" our site does not come up. The editor for our category said that other editors said it would take time? Is this true? Here is the email he sent me that I copied & pasted for the board here: "This seems to happen in this category. It's like this category doesn't exist. I have told the other editors and they say it will take time. I don't know what to do or where the glitch is!" Our old website, fuelinjectionpumps.com, was submitted and worked fine with no problems? How can we fix this? Do I need to switch categories? And if I do, will I be penalized for trying to list in multiple categories? Thanks for your help! Shannon
bobrat Posted July 13, 2004 Posted July 13, 2004 Search is very simple minded when it looks for things. Search is always behind new sites being added Search is more behind the usual The other editors said wait, be patient. So why not listen to what they said. Search is intended as a general aid to find categories not to find specific sites - your site is listed, and I'm afraid that the ability to find your site with search will not be considered important. Submiiting to another category to try and get listed in search would be a very bad thing to do, and you could end up losing your listing permanently or temporarily.
