This site was submitted by a SEO, and they are not sure which category it was submitted to. I am hoping that one of you can find this site in either the category listed or a subcategory of that category. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Heheh, really? Have they already been paid? If they can't document their work, they aren't much of an SEO imho. I wouldn't pay till you had some proof that they did what they promised they'd do.

 

If we tell you, will you or them pay us? (kidding!)

This was a bit of a sore point. One of those times when there is an uncomfortable silence while you wait to hear "Just kidding!" Do you know the status of that submission? Although it is great to know that it IS at least in queue.

The only statuses we can give are a) Not awaiting review in that category b) Listed in category X or c) Awaiting review. There is no other 'status' we can give. Sorry.

Sorry, I mis-read your URL. No, it is NOT in the unreviewed queue of that category. An editor felt that the content wasn't suitable for listing there. Sorry.

Nope: it has previously been proposed on the internal ODP forums that the system sends out automatic notification emails, but this has not been implemented for various reasons (faked email addresses, submitters angry spam sites aren't accepted etc. etc.). Therefore, unless an editor decides to personally email the submitter, no notification of addition or rejection is made to the submitter. Most editors don't send out notifications as a) they've got better things to do (if you can imagine the additional time to cut'n'paste the email address, URL, category and then send the message) and b) quite a number of editors have been on the end of 'disgruntled submitters' and have warned others about being signed up to porn lists, mail bombed etc. "A few bad apples upset the entire apple cart" type of thing.

 

As for why your site was rejected back in October - I'll be honest and say that I don't know. Whenever a site modification is made to the ODP database the editor is given the choice whether or not to include an 'editor note' which is visible to other editors looking at the site details - in this case the reviewing editor decided not to leave a note.

 

I've placed it back into the unreviewed queue of Shopping/Consumer_Electronics/Communications/Wireless/Cellular_Phones/Accessories/M for re-review.
