As my website is growing it is effectively becoming a lot of mini sites within one.

Rather than having to purchase new domains I am splitting my site into a number of different sections each with usually 5 to 20 pages.

What is the ODP policy regarding submitting sections of websites?

can I submit different sections of one site to different categories within the ODP.

Many thanks.

Short answer: no.

Deeplinks are the exception, not the rule, and are done on editor initiative, not user suggestions.

The advice of the submission guidelines and which we quote here quite often hasn't changed: Submit the root URL of your site, once, to the single most appropriate category.

Editors have noticed that there is an almost perfect negative correlation between the sites that SUBMIT deeplinks, and the sites that DESERVE deeplinking. While there are very rare exceptions to this pattern, even aside from the violation of the submittal policies, you put yourself in very bad company by submitting deeplinks.

On the other hand, if an ODP category is very very VERY poorly developed, it may be a big help to us to submit a deeplink.

I deleted a couple of submitted deeplinks from a site today. But one of them put me on to a park I didn't know about -- and I set about to build a category for it. I found over a dozen fine links: covering science, education, volunteer organizations, nature photography, outdoor activities, political turmoil. Some of them were deeplinks; none of them were from the "tourist guide" sites that regularly shotgun-spam us; but they were all significantly better: more authoritative, more informative, more multimedia, more variety of perspectives...

So I don't resent that over-eager submitter half as much as when I first saw "what? ANOTHER deeplink?". But that is a special case. And with a very poorly developed category, a decent deeplink has a better chance of being listed.
