Donsdad Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 I was under the impression that you should only submit the homepage of a site. Is this correct. If so how is it that a site that I compete with is has several pages listed in the directory ? Please Advise

Meta pvgool Posted July 28, 2004 Meta Posted July 28, 2004 I was under the impression that you should only submit the homepage of a site. Is this correct. If so how is it that a site that I compete with is has several pages listed in the directory ? You should only submit the mainpage of your site to the one best category. An editor can decide if the site is worth more listings or listing of deeplinks. I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
bobrat Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 I think there was an implied question as to why there were several http://www.tourtexas.com/ deeplinks already within ODP. I venture to say that most of those stem from several years ago, when the rules for editing were somewhat different from today, and there was more leeway to add sites. Often you may find sites within ODP that do meet the current standards, and as time goes by, the standards get retroactively enforced and those sites might get removed.
kctipton Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 Whatever a so-called competitor gets or doesn't get has no bearing on what your site gets.
Donsdad Posted July 28, 2004 Author Posted July 28, 2004 More Details Please So yes or no ? Can I submit all 400 pages on my site individually ?
bobrat Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 Feel free, anyone can submit what they wish, however, I can guarantee you will get a lifetime ban on your site or any of it's pages ever getting listed in ODP and any mirrors or other sites you ever create with the same content would suffer the identical fate.
lisahinely Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 In addition to all that good advice, are you sure you are looking at http://dmoz.org , and not at some downstream user of ODP data? I don't believe all those sites have ever been listed under Odessa, and I'm wondering if someone else got our data muddled.
