Guest e3servers Posted December 16, 2002 Posted December 16, 2002 I would appreciate any information you could provide about the following submission: http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Hosting/E/ http://www.e3servers.com Thanks.
beebware Posted December 16, 2002 Posted December 16, 2002 It's awaiting review in that category with less than 70 other sites.
Guest e3servers Posted December 16, 2002 Posted December 16, 2002 Thanks for the prompt reply. I appreciate it.
Guest e3servers Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 Hi, I was wondering if this site is still in the que...thanks in advance for your assistance.
Guest e3servers Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 It's been about another month...are we still stuck in the same place? Thanks, Richard
dfy Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 I'm afraid so. The category you are trying to get into attracts huge amounts of poor quality submissions, and we have to take extra care when reviewing sites. This translates into delays that affect both the affiliate sites/spammers, and the genuine operators. Sorry.
Guest e3servers Posted March 19, 2003 Posted March 19, 2003 Hello again: I would appreciate any information you could provide me about my submission. Thank you.
uzs980 Posted March 19, 2003 Posted March 19, 2003 Nothing new unfortunately. Most letter subcategories of Computers: Internet: Web Design and Development: Hosting are really backlogged. There is a lack of good editors who are willing to spend their time (and money) on reviewing commercial web hosting sites. I'm sorry I haven't got better news for you.
Guest e3servers Posted April 18, 2003 Posted April 18, 2003 Monthly check in... Has anything in the category moved at all? Thanks.
Meta icxcnika Posted April 19, 2003 Meta Posted April 19, 2003 There has been some editing--bad sites deleted, good new sites added--but, sorry to say, your site is still waiting, along with many others. Curlie volunteer meta editor icxcnika
Guest e3servers Posted May 28, 2003 Posted May 28, 2003 Hello again: Just wondering if my site has moved at all in the que or how big the que still is... Thanks, REO
marisa1116 Posted May 28, 2003 Posted May 28, 2003 Unfortunately, it looks as if your site was down when an editor tried to review it last week. I've added it back to the unreviewed queue, which is about the same size as it was before.
Guest e3servers Posted May 29, 2003 Posted May 29, 2003 Thanks for the update; does this mean it goes to the bottom of the stack for another five month wait?
Meta kokopeli Posted May 29, 2003 Meta Posted May 29, 2003 It could be five months, it could be a year, it could be a week...there is never any way to tell. It all depends on when that category is edited. It is unfortunate the site was down when viewed, but has been readded to the queue and will be reviewed at some point again. The date added is always the current date, there is no way for your site to have been added with a retroactive date--therefore if the editor was to sort by date, yes, yours would likely be at the end of the line. Editors can, however, sort by date, url, or title--so it may not matter.
Guest e3servers Posted July 9, 2003 Posted July 9, 2003 Hello again: Wondering if anyone can provide some information...thanks, Richard
Alucard Posted July 11, 2003 Posted July 11, 2003 It appears that an editor tried to review the site on 2-Jun of this year, but once again it was down, so that submission was deleted. We can't list sites which we can't review, I'm afraid. If it's causing us problems, I would bet it will affect your potential customers, and since you appear to be selling web hosting... I think I'll leave it at that.... Please resubmit when you have the issue resolved. Thanks.
lachenm Posted July 11, 2003 Posted July 11, 2003 Well, I was checking the site (at the same time alucard was, I guess)... Since I had the page loaded anyhow and since your site appears to be working, I added it back to the unreviewed pool for you, so there's no need to resubmit.
Guest e3servers Posted August 19, 2003 Posted August 19, 2003 Well, I don't know what the problem might have been with the reviewer but I know that we have a third party monitoring system which loads our web page every few minutes and it shows that the site hasn't been down for a very long time...the only thing I can think of is that we do block some IPs which have attempted to submit fraudulent orders in the past. Maybe the reviewer ended up on one of these... Anyway, has there been any movement?
Meta windharp Posted August 20, 2003 Meta Posted August 20, 2003 block some IPs which have attempted to submit fraudulent orders in the past We are starting to be offtopic, so just as a note: Since most people use nonstatic IPs of dialup odr DSL providers, that wont do you any good. You should check for those before blocking anything, you would just catch people doing you no harm. The offender will have a different IP the next time anyway. Apart from that it might have been a DNS propagation issue, if your servers moved for example. If uptime is very important to you, you might want to use a checking-service that is far away from your servers. Other side of the world preferred. So every problem on the way will be reported. Guest e3servers Posted August 20, 2003 Posted August 20, 2003 You're right this is a bit off topic, but we don't ban dial-up IPs; just static IPs from known fraud attempters (there is a way to tell). And we do have monitoring from different parts of the world (and globe--far east, europe, north america). This does make a difference. We haven't had any DNS changes which would impact either. I guess we will have to see...thanks for the reply.
Meta windharp Posted August 25, 2003 Meta Posted August 25, 2003 It was rejected for not offering unique service - being only a reseller. Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
Guest e3servers Posted August 25, 2003 Posted August 25, 2003 Actually we are not a reseller; we own multiple servers...we offer multiple domain hosting to others. What do we have to offer to be unique in terms of hosting? Looking through the current catagory there is only a handful of reseller hosting companies. We also have on our site about a dozen articles about hosting which have requested by other sites to be reprinted on-line (which have). You have one selection in this catagory which is nothing but a referral link to a pay per click search engine "Expert Business Services"? "Ebuyme" is a big ad for Matthew Lesko greeting you. "Eremote" doesn't even have a site anymore--just a directory listing. "Etecc" has two listings--not too unique there. "Elkins Communication Technologies" does electrical work or phone setup--not even related to hosting or site design. "Emerald Surf Internet" states that they are no longer accepting customers anymore. And five other listings could not reach their sites over the last 14 hours. I don't mean to come across as angry but it really seems that there is something going on here in that this category isn't working right. Maybe the editor has a personal interest somewhere or doesn't have enough time but our site has more unique content that a lot here (ojectively or subjectively).
