Guest yaffer Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 Could you please tell me the status of this domain? I submitted about 3 months ago in the shopping/weddings category. I am curious to know if it was denied because an SEO company worked on the site several years ago and some of their work is somewhat unconventional. Thanks for your help.
Meta windharp Posted December 20, 2002 Meta Posted December 20, 2002 As you can see yourself no sites are listed directly in that category. So the editor has to resort it before he can list it <img src="/images/icons/frown.gif" alt="" /> PLEASE read submission guidelines which advice you to submit to the one most accurate category - not to several different ones... Anyway: Since your submission does not qualify for online shopping it was moved to the Napa Business category and is awaiting review there. Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
Guest yaffer Posted December 20, 2002 Posted December 20, 2002 sorry. i didn't get the category correct. it should have been shopping>flowers>weddings. there are many other wedding florists in that category that don't offer online shopping, two are direct competitors; wiggyflowers.com and winecountryflowers.com shouldn't it be listed in both sections?
Meta windharp Posted December 20, 2002 Meta Posted December 20, 2002 I will look into it this evening (my local time of course <img src="/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" /> ) - but the only result will be that all non-shopping sites are removed from the online shopping category. To qualify for a listing in Online-Shops\* a site must provide pricing and ordering information and some possibility for the fellow visitor to place his order. Best way wuzld be a cart or form. See the description of Shopping for some details. Edit: Fixed link Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
Guest yaffer Posted December 20, 2002 Posted December 20, 2002 thanks for the correction. i don't believe there is an editor for that category though. how is that handled if there is no editor? also could you take a look at the site itself to see if the site is up to specs. there are a couple things that were done that i'm not sure of. are dc tags considered spamming? i would appreciate any suggestions so the site will be ready for the editor.
uzs980 Posted December 20, 2002 Posted December 20, 2002 The category Regional: North America: United States: California: Localities: N: Napa: Business and Economy hasn't got its own listed editor. There is no category without an editor though. All editors of categories "higher up in the tree" can edit there, for example those of Regional: North America: United States: California. You might also try and submit to Shopping: Flowers: Weddings if you think you qualify for that category, too. We usually don't care about tags in the source text of a site. What we care about is the site content. Yours, Robert
dfy Posted December 20, 2002 Posted December 20, 2002 I have no idea what DC tags are supposed to do. I can see them in your source, but I can't work out what the point of them is. This is probably because we don't care in the slightest what your meta tags say. <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />
Meta windharp Posted December 20, 2002 Meta Posted December 20, 2002 Back to http://dmoz.org/editors/Shopping/Flowers/Weddings You are right: There are quite a few sites without the possibility to buy anything online (Just checked the first few and found several). I'll try to work on that problem in the next few days. Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
Guest yaffer Posted December 26, 2002 Posted December 26, 2002 could you please let me know the status in the napa business section for this site? how many are in the queue etc.?
uzs980 Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 Your submission of December 4th is still waiting for review in Regional: North America: United States: California: Localities: N: Napa: Business and Economy.
uzs980 Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 Good news! I took some time and reviewed all sites waiting for review in that category. I added your site to Regional: North America: United States: California: Localities: N: Napa: Business and Economy: Shopping and it should turn up in that category after just a few minutes. <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />
giz Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 DC tags, are Dublin Core meta tags, and they make no difference whatsoever to your site review. General Comments: Another thing that makes absolutely no difference is what version of HTML or XHTML you use for your site, or whether the coding is actually any good; however if it is so bad that people cannot view the site, then it doesn't get reviewed very quickly.
