Gimpy Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 Anyone know a good, sure quick and easy way of telling which language is which when you edit a foreign language site? Its hard to tellt eh diffrence between french and spanish, there really similar. And russian and polish are hard to tell the difference between too....
djdeeds Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 I like this tool: http://www.xrce.xerox.com/competencies/content-analysis/tools/guesser
bobrat Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 But it doesn't recognize what trolls speak on Phobos.
djdeeds Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 But it helps with French vs. Spanish and Russian vs. Polish which is what I thought the question was about. Actually I find those distinctions pretty easy (after all Russian uses a different alphabet - hmm was this a troll?). The one I have difficulty with is Malay vs. Indonesian. Still working on that one myself...
Meta windharp Posted August 9, 2004 Meta Posted August 9, 2004 Well, since this question is about editing a site, the best answer would be "For editors we have a compilation of those tools at http://dmoz.org/Test/Tools_for_Editors/Translation_Tools/Language_Guessing/ " Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
