Guest craigz Posted December 23, 2002 Posted December 23, 2002 I posted http://www.cherrytee.com several weeks ago. I believe (though am unsure) that I posted it in the category: http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Clothing/Casual/T-Shirts/ A status update would be much appreciated.
Khym_Chanur Posted December 23, 2002 Posted December 23, 2002 Nothing has been done with your submission, and it sits in unreveiwed with around 300 other sites.
Guest craigz Posted December 23, 2002 Posted December 23, 2002 Khym - thank you for your reply. Was I correct with the category I thought I submitted to? I don't suppose there is anything I can do to speed things along? What is a typical time that it takes to review 300 sites? Thanks again
Khym_Chanur Posted December 23, 2002 Posted December 23, 2002 Was I correct with the category I thought I submitted to?I think it is, but I'm not sure, since Shopping isn't a category I edit.I don't suppose there is anything I can do to speed things along? If the title and description of your submission conforms to guidelines, it might speed things up; there are a number of editors who look through the list of unrevieweds and publish those first, since those take the least amount of time. You could resubmit, but that would send you to the end of the queue; however, that might not hurt, since editors aren't obligated to edit submissions in the order they appear in the queue. What is a typical time that it takes to review 300 sites?Impossible to say. It depends on the amount of time that the primary editors involved with the area spend editing. If they're involved in a project somewhere else in the directory, they might not spend much time in the T-Shirt area. Or they might have recently got something new to do in Real Life, like a new child or a vacation. Then again, another editor might come in and edit some of the unreviewds.
Guest craigz Posted February 11, 2003 Posted February 11, 2003 Requesting an update to the status. I sent an email via dmoz to the editor of the category - dfy - a few weeks ago and haven't gotten a response. I suspect if there are still 300 unreviewed sites he gets a few emails.
dfy Posted February 11, 2003 Posted February 11, 2003 Yes he does, you'd be surprised how many. Real Life has been occupying a lot of my time recently, but it just so happens that I started to go through the t-shirts category last night. My plan is to keep at it until all of the unreviewed sites are cleared, but I have other duties as well so it might take a couple of weeks. Thanks for being patient.
Guest craigz Posted February 12, 2003 Posted February 12, 2003 Thank you for getting back to me. One thing I have a lot of is patience - I deal with Real Life too. Best -
Guest craigz Posted March 21, 2003 Posted March 21, 2003 dfy - wondering if there was any progress and if you might give me an eta? thanks - craig
dfy Posted March 23, 2003 Posted March 23, 2003 This time I actually looked at your site and found that it sells blank t-shirts, and hence doesn't fit into the Shopping/Clothing/Casual/T-Shirts/ category. I've moved it over to Business/Consumer_Goods_and_Services/Clothing/Casual/ where it's now waiting in a much smaller queue.
Guest craigz Posted March 23, 2003 Posted March 23, 2003 I don't believe it belongs in Business/Consumer Goods and Services/Clothing/Casual/ since those all appear to be manufacturers of casual clothing and none sell retail to the consumer (as Cherry Tee does). I would compare Cherry Tee as a start-up Gap or JCrew, though we only sell t-shirts (at this time and for the foreseeable future). If a prerequisite to be in the Shopping/Clothing/Casual/T-Shirts/ category is that it has to have designs or other embellishments then I agree that we shouldn't be there and should be in the Shopping/Clothing/Casual/ category one level up. I put it in the lower category, believing that I should be as specific as possible with the categorization. Please let me know your thoughts on this. Thanks
