toomuch72 Posted August 14, 2004 Posted August 14, 2004 Please let me know the status of http://www.0pn.com/ submitted to category: http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Searching/Search_Engines/ I'm pretty certain my site fits the guidelines. It was listed once before about 7 months ago then removed about 6 months ago. It has been well over a month since the last submit and attempts to contact the editor seem to go nowhere.
leer Posted August 14, 2004 Posted August 14, 2004 I see that on the site there is the attribution from the ODP. I have looked but can't find any data of ours. Can you point me in the right direction so I can consider a listing in http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Searching/Directories/Open_Directory_Project/Sites_Using_ODP_Data
toomuch72 Posted August 14, 2004 Author Posted August 14, 2004 Yes all the data below the backup results are all ODP data. Ecah of the Urls were plugged into our crawler written specificaly for the ODP data. Then each of those were crawled and the current desc/title/and keywords(most of them still the same as the ODP data) were used. These are in a "SEARCH ENGINE" form so the directory will not show as they do in the categories on DMOZ instead they are parsed by keywords often showing where you least expect. To see the ODP results try a less popular search. This was a secondary submission to the sites using ODP data and eventually this data will be eclipsed by our own database--thus the reason for the http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Inter...Search_Engines/ category Ok did that make any sense??? I think I even confused myself
toomuch72 Posted August 15, 2004 Author Posted August 15, 2004 So as the status report on the search engine category? Any news? Don't want this thread to get lost with out the Status report.
toomuch72 Posted August 15, 2004 Author Posted August 15, 2004 Last submit, that I know of, was over a 2 months ago. An attempt to contact the editor was about 3 weeks ago. This was a resubmit. Not sure if the editor is taking it seriously?
spectregunner Posted August 15, 2004 Posted August 15, 2004 Not sure if the editor is taking it seriously? The editor is probably taking very seriously the excellent advice that one should never respond to e-mails from submitters.
toomuch72 Posted August 15, 2004 Author Posted August 15, 2004 The editor is probably taking very seriously the excellent advice that one should never respond to e-mails from submitters. I see--So then I was wasting my time with those e-mails? Do the editors even read them? No that can't be right--Cause I have communicated with many other editors on DMOZ in fact some I'm very friendly with. They all seemed to be very willing to help out--maybe I was just lucky up to that point?
Meta hutcheson Posted August 15, 2004 Meta Posted August 15, 2004 Every communication with submitters is a risk. Obviously, if the editors know you from elsewhere or can meet in a lighted forum, there's less risk and they can be their helpful selves.
toomuch72 Posted August 31, 2004 Author Posted August 31, 2004 Bump this thread at the end of the month. Ok Thread Bumped. All I need is a status on the one category. http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Searching/Search_Engines/ Is it Waiting in the approval queue? Does it even exist? Did the editor Attempt to move to a diff category(I know you guys are supposed to do that if you find a better category)? Now going on 7 months trying to get re-listed. Since http://www.0pn.com one of the fastest growing search engines in the SE industry I'm just wondering why it is not getting listed talk about frustrating.
toomuch72 Posted September 3, 2004 Author Posted September 3, 2004 No responses? To the bumped thread? All I need is the initial status report(never got that) so I know my next steps. I know the rules:status updates must be spaced six months apart. Since I never received an actual status report this is not being violated.
ishtar Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 It's waiting review in the category you mention.
