wirescale Posted August 15, 2004 Posted August 15, 2004 http://www.wirescale.com/ was submitted to: 1. http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Hosting/Free/ in September 2003. I was hopelessly looking on how to contact dmoz by searching a form or email contact until I found this forum!!! Since I didn't receive any feedback, I tried to re-submit the site once again a few weeks ago thinking that the 1st submission had never been considered. Would you please tell me if my 1st submission will be included and roughly when?
djdeeds Posted August 15, 2004 Posted August 15, 2004 I tried to re-submit the site once again a few weeks ago OK, so now all you need to do is re-bump this thread 1 month from when you last suggested the site. Then, according to the forum guidelines, we can help you with the status.
wirescale Posted August 15, 2004 Author Posted August 15, 2004 okay I resubmitted the web site again to ensure it will be included in the irght directory since you are only considering the last submission and because I can't remember exactly where I submitted it the last time: http://www.wirescale.com/ to http://dmoz.org/computers/internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Hosting/free/
bobrat Posted August 15, 2004 Posted August 15, 2004 Being mercifull and not wanting you to wait a month. Your site is not in English and that's therefore the wrong category. http://www.dmoz.org/World/Fran%c3%a7ais/Informatique/Internet/Conception_et_d%c3%a9veloppement/H%c3%a9bergement/Gratuit/ might be the right place if it is really free, but it seems to say 30 days for free
wirescale Posted August 15, 2004 Author Posted August 15, 2004 thanks bobrat, the web site is in both English and French If I have to choose between english or french dir, I would prefer English. The setup and design are free. 30 days free is for hosting, after that period it becomes cost-per-visit.
Meta hutcheson Posted August 15, 2004 Meta Posted August 15, 2004 You don't have to choose between English or French. You don't even get to choose. The site goes in the category appropriate to the language. If the site is really in two languages -- contains enough information that a person who knows only one of the languages can navigate freely and find the information he needs -- then the site may be listed in both languages, and you are invited to submit it to both. It will be the editor's choice whether either or both or neither listings get added, but having a listing in a French category will not at all prejudice you against having an English-category listing (and vice versa.)
bobrat Posted August 15, 2004 Posted August 15, 2004 Sorry It's too late at night and I cannot see, but might I suggest you make the word ENGLISH bigger So you can indeed submit it to both places.
wirescale Posted August 15, 2004 Author Posted August 15, 2004 Do I have to enter a different URL for each directory, one for English: http://www.wirescale.com/servlet/index.jsp?name=en,home,null,null, and the other one for French: http://www.wirescale.com/servlet/index.jsp?name=fr,home,null,null, OR just http://www.wirescale.com for both French and English?
bobrat Posted August 15, 2004 Posted August 15, 2004 We much prefer whenever possible to have the same URL http://www.wirescale.com/ in both cases. I would also suggest adding a note at the end of the description such as [English/French] or [Francais/Anglais] {My best guess at the right words} This it makes it clear to both the editor and the user of ODP.
wirescale Posted August 15, 2004 Author Posted August 15, 2004 as bobrat suggests, now I have http://www.wirescale.com submitted to both: 1. http://dmoz.org/computers/internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Hosting/free/ 2. http://www.dmoz.org/World/Fran%c3%a7ais/Informatique/Internet/Conception_et_d%c3%a9veloppement/H%c3%a9bergement/Gratuit/ do I have to re-submit it on a regular basis (once a month for e.g.) or just come here or wait for someone to contact me??
Meta pvgool Posted August 15, 2004 Meta Posted August 15, 2004 do I have to re-submit it on a regular basis (once a month for e.g.) or just come here or wait for someone to contact me?? No, no. Do not submit again. Why do you think this would be necessary. If your suggestions are received the only thing you must do is wait. Wait for an editor to review the site. When this will happen: noone knows, not even us editors. I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
wirescale Posted September 16, 2004 Author Posted September 16, 2004 1 month later Hello, Today, we are 1 month later since I submitted http://www.wirescale.com submitted to both: 1. http://dmoz.org/computers/internet/...t/Hosting/free/ 2. http://www.dmoz.org/World/Fran%c3%a...gement/Gratuit/ thank you
wirescale Posted September 22, 2004 Author Posted September 22, 2004 Ok here is the original post. Could someone tell me please about the status of this web site. thanks
