phxyax Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 http://www.phoenixsynergy.com Top: Regional: North America: United States: Arizona: Business and Economy: Computers and Internet I believe this was the category I submited to, it's been several months and the site isn't listed anywhere. I don't want to double submit, so any feedback would be appreciated.
Meta hutcheson Posted August 23, 2004 Meta Posted August 23, 2004 Please make the category clickable. Without investigating further: if your office is in Phoenix (Mesa/Glendale/fill-in-your-suburb), you should probably submit to the Business and Economy subcategory of Phoenix (or the relevant suburb). If so, you can probably save time by doing that now, and checking ITS status in another month.
phxyax Posted September 16, 2004 Author Posted September 16, 2004 Thanks I have resubmitted, wanted to wait so I wasn't doubling up on my suggestion. I submitted to Regional > North America > United States > Arizona > Localities > P > Phoenix > Business and Economy > Computers and Internet We shall See.
dogbows Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 Actually it is still not quite right. A little fairy dust does wonders. Your Google category link is now the correct DMOZ category link. http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Arizona/Localities/P/Phoenix/Business_and_Economy/Computers_and_Internet/
phxyax Posted October 27, 2004 Author Posted October 27, 2004 Hesitant to resubmit again I was not quite sure what the last reply meant. Not sure if it means it is now ok, or if still needs a little help. I do know it's not listed yet. I think it might mean that the category I set was a google specific category and not dmoz. I'm not sure, but I don't think I'm typing in the category or the category URL itself, because I'm finding the category and hitting submit. I assume it knows the category based on where I was when I hit it. I could have clicked submit from within googles directory... At any rate, should I resubmit it now, or will I hurt/break something if I do?
dogbows Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 No, do not resubmit. I just made the link to the category clickable per forum guidelines so an editor with permissions in that category could check the status. Please wait for an editor to provide the status.
spectregunner Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 Ok, here is the deal. At one point in time it was submitted to Computers/Programming/Internet/ASP/ASP.NET/Web_Hosting but was declined because it was not appropriate for that category. There is no record if it eve having been submitted to http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Arizona/Localities/P/Phoenix/Business_and_Economy/Computers_and_Internet/ . An editor went through there last night, there are no sites waiting, and no notes indicating that it has ever been touched (edited, deleted, moved) by a regional editor. I also looked for it at the top level of the state, since many people mistakenly submit to the highest levels within regional, rather than the deepest possible level, but did not see it waiting in the submittions pools up there either. So, if you truly are physically located in Phoenix, even though you have a 623 telephone area code, then resubmit once to http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Arizona/Localities/P/Phoenix/Business_and_Economy/Computers_and_Internet/ and come back to this thread in a month for a check to confirm that the submission has been received.
phxyax Posted October 27, 2004 Author Posted October 27, 2004 Will do I'll do just that, thanks for your help.
phxyax Posted October 27, 2004 Author Posted October 27, 2004 resubmitted. I resubmitted to: http://www.dmoz.org/Business/Marketing_and_Advertising/Internet_Marketing/Marketing_Services/ I've added to my calendar to check status Nov 27th. Thanks again.
spectregunner Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 How in the world did you come to that course of action? I told you to resubmit to Regional/ and you submitted to Business/. Business/ was never mentioned in this discussion thread.
phxyax Posted October 27, 2004 Author Posted October 27, 2004 Dead man Am I now a dead man? I was thinking you were conserned about the regional because I am in 623 but that region didn't match. So I just found another category that was relevant. If I mucked up again, I'll wait till next month and reapply to my region (don't know how to emphasise in that submission that 623 is the area code for this region). I think the category I chose is relevant, this is a business that applies to that category, but I want to do this how you guys deem most appropriate/relevant. I just want people who dig into the category that applys to my site to see my site in the list, you know best what that is. Thanks as always for your help, catch you next month when we "fix" this mess I made.
spectregunner Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 Am I now a dead man? Nope, the firing squad went to Florida figuing that with all the attorneys down there, the post-election pickings should be quite easy. So I just found another category that was relevant. Nope, serindipity was on your site. Most businesses are given consideration for one Regional and one Topical listing. I was just befuddled as to how a discussion on a Regional submission led to a resubmissin in Business. 'll wait till next month and reapply Not necessary for you to wait. The deal with the 623 is that your inital submission was for Phoenix, which retained the 602 and that most of the west valley uses 623, just as the east valley uses 480. It is amazing the number of companies in Glendale that submit to Phoenix. So, if your physical offices are in Phoenix, regardless of the area code, submit to the Regional...Phoenix cat we discussed earlier. If you are in Glendale, Peoria or somewhere else, submit to the appropriate locality, as deeply as the category allows. The consideration of the two submissions is separate, most likely by two different editors who will no communicate with each other in the process, and who may look at them minutes apart or years apart. Each will be considered on its own merits. so go forth and do your Regional submission, then come back in 30 days and get sttus checks on both at the same time.
phxyax Posted November 19, 2004 Author Posted November 19, 2004 30 days later I'm wondering if things look good, or if it's time now to resubmit. Maybe I need to reword or do something different. Any help appreciated, thanks. http://dmoz.org/Business/Marketing_and_Advertising/Internet_Marketing/Marketing_Services/
