mmiika Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 I'd like to know the status of http://www.yellowpages-cambodia.com/, submitted about a month ago to http://dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/Cambodia/Business_and_Economy/ Thanks
Meta hutcheson Posted September 1, 2004 Meta Posted September 1, 2004 It is waiting there for review.
Nochaos Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Good Luck Your site is the first link under Latest News on http://www.interquess.com/ which is already listed in Cambodia/B&E. You don't really think you'll get two listings in the same cat. do you, especially when one is just a deeplink of the other?
jgwright Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Your site is the first link under Latest News on http://www.interquess.com/[/url"] which is already listed in Cambodia/B&E. You don't really think you'll get two listings in the same cat. do you' date=' especially when one is just a deeplink of the other?[/quote'] I don't think this should be considered a case of deep-linking. We're talking about two different domains. Unless there's something I've missed...?
bobrat Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 The existence of a separate domain does not by itself indicate the existence of a separate entity. Many businesses choose to separate the different parts of the business over separate domains, yet will still only get one ODP listing. Conversely two small businesses with totally separate functions may share a domain - this typically happens where a husband and wife have two separate businesses wiht totally different purpose, but one business has a deep link within the other's site. In that case, there may be no probem having two ODP listings. The reviewing editor in this case would have to decide whether the yellow pages is just a subdepartment of the main site in which case, it's one business spread over two URLs, or the main site is just linking to it for advertising purposes.
jgwright Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 ...with of course the key critereon being "unique and relevant content".
mmiika Posted September 2, 2004 Author Posted September 2, 2004 Your site is the first link under Latest News on http://www.interquess.com/[/url"] which is already listed in Cambodia/B&E. You don't really think you'll get two listings in the same cat. do you' date=' especially when one is just a deeplink of the other?[/quote'] I thought that the category suggestion is just a suggestion. I have to admit though, I didn't do enough research on dmoz categories and wish I had submitted it to http://dmoz.org/Reference/Directories/Address_and_Phone_Numbers/Yellow_Pages/Asia/ rather than Cambodia B&E. Thanks anyway for comments...
mmiika Posted February 16, 2005 Author Posted February 16, 2005 status of http://www.yellowpages-cambodia.com What might be the status of the Cambodia Yellow Pages be now?
Editall/Catmv arubin Posted February 16, 2005 Editall/Catmv Posted February 16, 2005 I see no change in status since the last report. You may ask again in this thread in 6 months.
mmiika Posted March 24, 2005 Author Posted March 24, 2005 status of http://www.yellowpages-cambodia.com What might be status of this now? Should I submit again or something?
brewery Posted March 24, 2005 Posted March 24, 2005 Dont submit again please until an editor with the appropriate permissions for the category you submitted to comes and tells you that status of your site. Thank you.
Alucard Posted March 24, 2005 Posted March 24, 2005 A suggestion of this URL is awaiting review in the category. PLease do not submit again. An editor will decide: a) if the site is listable b) in which category it best fits. I would strongly suggest that we do not get into discussions on this forum about the potential listability or not of individual sites - as the final call is up to the reviewing editor. If there are questions then please bring them up on the editor forums where a wider (and possibly more experienced) group of editors can join in.
