miromulus Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 Check the directory. Your site is now listed.
hetul Posted October 27, 2004 Author Posted October 27, 2004 I do not see any change in the listing yet... The Catagory still shows: http://www.eninteractive.com/ Computers: Internet: Web Design and Development: Designers: Full Service: E (1) I would like it to be listed under the following catagory: http://dmoz.org/Business/Business_Services/Outsourcing/
miromulus Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 Your site is listed with the name En Interactive. Maybe you are seeing an old cache of the page. I checked a few seconds ago and your site was there.
gboisseau Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 It looks like your company provides much more then outsourcing: From offshore software development and outsourcing services to providing technical support service and remote administration services, En Interactive Technologies Pvt. Ltd provides a wide range of services.
dogbows Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 First the category you have specified that you want it moved to has no listings. If it is moved to that category per your update request it would most likely be a subcat. It has not as yet been moved. It is still in the first category.
hetul Posted November 11, 2004 Author Posted November 11, 2004 yes gboisseau, but our main line of business is outsourcing... Also, I asked to be placed under that catagory because few months back when I checked that catagory I saw about 3-4 websites listed. Also, that catagory shows a "suggest URL" link on the top. I thought that means we can add our site to that catagory. But a sub-cat of Business Process Outsourcing will be the choice if we cannot put under the main catagory. Thanks hk
dogbows Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 The directory is a continuous work in progress. It is possible that some reorganization is going on there. The suggest URL may or may not be removed at some point in time. Your site may very well be one that could go at that top level. It is just a general rule that sites be placed in the deepest category that best describes them. And since there are none listed at that level presently I was just suggesting it might be placed at a lower level, if it is even moved at all.
hetul Posted November 11, 2004 Author Posted November 11, 2004 Would i get a notification when the change is made? When should I expect it? Since I have submitted it to the main catagory, is that something that is holding back my websites catagorization? I dont know what my next step should be... should I reconsider submitting the changes on the Dmoz again? Thanks for the help hk
bobrat Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 Your site currently is not available The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
dogbows Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 No, that is not the hold up. In order to use the update listing you have to go to the category where it is already listed. When an editor checks the update, they will determine if a move is warranted and if so move it to the proper cat. Now I do not have editing rights in either category. And unfortunately I cannot see if your update request is pending or not. I can tell you that no editor as of yet has moved or denied the request. Neither has an editor with editing rights in that category given you the status. So I would not do anything until an editor answers your request here. Just to make sure your update request actually went through. The forum has been extremely busy and many status requests are falling back unanswered. I only responded because it appeared that your request was mistaken for a submission update rather than an update listing request. Hopefully someone will answer your request soon. If it falls off the second page unanswered, you may bump it back to the top with a reply. Sorry, I cannot be of more assistance.
dogbows Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 The site is available for me in FireFox. So are you saying that their update listing did not go through, bobrat? And should they use the update listing again.
miromulus Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 I have the same problem like bobrat: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. This is what happens when I'm trying to access the site with Netscape.
dogbows Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 It is still working for me in FireFox and I have been to this site at least four times tonight with no problems whatsoever.
dogbows Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 I have just accessed this site with Netscape 7.1 and IE 6 with no problems at all.
bobrat Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 The site works ok for me now. I am unable to answer the status of the update, since I have no access to that area.
hetul Posted November 11, 2004 Author Posted November 11, 2004 Actually, our webhost uses ENSIM, which throws up Internal Server Error randomly... That may be causing the problem. Only solution for now is to do a refresh! Thanks hk
dogbows Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 OK now I have to ask. Did you go to this category http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Designers/Full_Service/E/ And use the update listing to request the move or did you just submit to the other category? I am not sure why to be honest but I am getting the impression that there is something about your site that makes it not eligible for the category you want it in. Business categories have different guidelines as do all the top categories, so maybe it really does not belong there according to the guidelines.
hetul Posted November 11, 2004 Author Posted November 11, 2004 Yes, i did submit the update request few months ago...
dogbows Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 Well, only an editor with rights there is going to be able to give you the status. Sorry for all the activity with no answer for you. Hang in there, and good luck.
