datums Posted September 11, 2004 Author Posted September 11, 2004 Hello I believe it was here. http://dmoz.com/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Designers/Full_Service/D/ Is there any other way to find where it was submitted? I recently found this forum. thank you. Maybe when submitting sending a confirmation with the information ? Just a suggestion, thank you for your help.
datums Posted September 11, 2004 Author Posted September 11, 2004 BTW I found this link http://dmoz.org/help/helpmain.html it gives me a "Forbidden" Page. Tried emailing webmaster@dmoz.org and it was bounced back.
donwiebe Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 Not waiting in Full Service. But an editor did move a misplaced submission out of [cat]Business/Financial_Services[/cat] into [cat=Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Designers/Basic_Service/D]Computers: Internet: Web Design and Development: Designers: Basic Service: D[/cat] where it's awaiting review. If you don't see it listed sometime in the next six months, please feel free to return for a status update on or after 13 March. ...it gives me a "Forbidden" Page.A known issue. Technical staff is on it.
datums Posted March 17, 2005 Author Posted March 17, 2005 Hello Can I get an update on the status of this listing. Thank you for your time and have a great day.
Editall/Catmv arubin Posted March 17, 2005 Editall/Catmv Posted March 17, 2005 I see no change in status since the last report. You may ask again in another 6 months.
datums Posted March 18, 2005 Author Posted March 18, 2005 Do we know if there is a backlog? This is a 6+ month old submission and the status has not changed.
Meta hutcheson Posted March 18, 2005 Meta Posted March 18, 2005 By definition, the unreviewed pool is not a backlog. It is merely one of many opportunities. But true, many opportunities knock for far longer than that.
datums Posted March 19, 2005 Author Posted March 19, 2005 Hello So I should check back in another 6 months? Thank you for your time.
oneeye Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 You can but is there any point? It will not speed up the listing if and when the site is reviewed and found to meet our criteria. It will tell you if it has been rejected but not why (policy). It will tell you if it has been moved to another category. You would be better off forgetting it, maybe checking the category every so often to see if it has been listed, but focusing your efforts elsewhere - if it ever gets listed it will be a bonus but contrary to popular misconception it will not suddenly turn your business into a super-performer - if all listed and unreviewed sites were taken together that would make a pile of 50,000 web designers, which equals a fair few search engine pages and makes you a fairly small needle in a haystack. I can't see which part of New York you are in, but if you find the locality category in the Regional branch for your neighbourhood/town you can suggest the site there as well without it impacting on the existing suggestion.
datums Posted March 20, 2005 Author Posted March 20, 2005 Thank you for your suggestion. Hello Oneeye Thank you for your suggestion. At the same time I was reviewing the process of getting listed in the DMOZ directory. This would include learning about what not to do. With some of our clients we provide basic search engine propagation. This would include being listed in ZEAL if appropriate. From my experience there are benefits of being listed in dmoz, the directory is used among many sites. Thank you.
