Consider the other side of the coin, if I spend any more of my day editing, I get fired from my job, no food on the table, my wife leaves me, and I have to sell the children to pay the mortgage.

Point taken. We're all pedaling as fast as we can I guess. In truth, I haven't a clue what you do to add a site to the directory - but if you write a book about it some day, I know a half decent cover designer.

Cheers,

Hey - I bookmarked your site, my wife's latest book just got accepted by an agent and is being presented to the publisher this week. My latest book [actually my second  , my first book was self-published - one copy, I hand stitched and bound it, hand colored] - at the rate I'm writing it, will be ready for a cover in 2010 :)

An ODP question regarding categories - are your customers businesses in the printing and publishing industry or do you end up dealing with authors directly?

Two authors in one family? That's dangerous, and possibly falls into some category addressed by The Patriot Act. Please turn yourselves in!

Seriously, congratulations and kudos for your wife - it's been a tough market to penetrate this last year, so her book must be quite good. 2005 has started very well for a number of my clients though; so get that book finished fast while the sun is shining!

I actually work mostly with authors directly since going freelance, but I have a couple of University Presses I get work from time to time. I prefer working with the talent – far more interesting.

What are your genre’s?

My wife writes books on parenting and marriage, in the past for a small niche market. She wrote a mass market parenting book a couple of years ago, which we self published and sell online. We noe have a publisher interested in creating an expanded version. I'm trying to write a fiction book.

My question on your target market is to do with ODP categories.

You are trying to get listed in http://dmoz.org/Business/Publishing_and_Printing/Publishing/Services/Design/

Business: Publishing and Printing: Publishing: Services: Design which seems to be aimed at publishers. (companies offering design services to publishers of books...)

Authors would be looking in http://dmoz.org/Arts/Writers_Resources/

Arts: Writers Resources

Arts: Writers Resources: Self Publishing

has a pointer to Arts: Graphic Design: Resources as a related category and it seems it might be good to have

Business: Publishing and Printing: Publishing: Services: Design listed in there as another related category

I defer to your judgment. It looked like the book cover designers that came up under a keyword search for "book cover design" or "book cover designer" (my primary keywords) seemed all to be listed in the -Top: Business: Publishing and Printing: Publishing: Services: Design- category, so I was merely following suit.

Sorry, my post was not clear.

I'm assuming the category you submitted to was the best one, based on the other sites already listed. I have no control of when your site would be reviewed in that category, since I do not edit there.

I'm just considering that by adding a "see also" reference , it would help users of ODP who are looking in Writers Resources: Self Publishing to also end up looking at Business: Publishing and Printing: Publishing: Services: Design

I understand, and thank you. Should I still come back on the 13th, or just put it out of my mind again?

Good luck to both you and your wife on your books!
