I have always been confused about what is considered spam on dmoz. For instance, I have noticed that many large celebrity resource sites are listed under every individual celebrity for a celebrities particular page on their website. I am under the impression that if your website has different pages for different celebrities (or anything for that matter) that you can submit that particular page to the specific catagory that it fits. So, it would not be spam for a large website to be listed under multiple catagories if that site has specific pages that fit into specific catagories and they submit the individual links to those specific pages? Also, what if that site has image galleries and wallpapers. Could the site submit to an image gallery catagory and also to a wallpaper catagory. I have noticed that most major sites are listed in many different catagories. Am I right in my understanding?

Thank You,

Lori

A site having several listings has nithing to do with spam.

But as specified in our guidelines you are allowed to suggest your site to ONE category only. If the editors think a site is worth listing under different topics they will decide to do so.

The ONE category rule has some exceptions.

To be more correct:

- you are allowed one listing in a thematical category (some exceptions to this rule also, a few topics are never listed in thematic category)

- if you are located somewhere physicaly you arre allowed a listing under Regional

- if your site is in several languages you are allowed a listing in all languages

This all ofcourse depending on the other points in our guidelines (as the important 'enough unique content')

I will not answer PM or emails send to me. If you have anything to ask please use the forum.
