Alex Irving Posted April 3, 2004 Posted April 3, 2004 Status of www.beauty-pr.com? Good Morning, I believe it's been around a month since I submitted our website to the category below. Didn't mark the exact date for follow-up so I'm guesstimating. site: http://www.beauty-pr.com category: http://www.dmoz.org/Business/Marketing_and_Advertising/Public_Relations/Agencies/E/ Thanks for any help. Alex Irving
Meta icxcnika Posted April 4, 2004 Meta Posted April 4, 2004 The site submission has been received, and awaits editor review. Have you considered submitting the site in Oceanside Business and Economy? A listing in one category wouldn't hurt your chances in the other; the company may be eligible for listing in both. Alex Irving Posted April 25, 2004 Author Posted April 25, 2004 Thanks Thanks for the information. I will indeed apply at the other category as well. Best Alex Irving
Alex Irving Posted April 25, 2004 Author Posted April 25, 2004 On second thought Esche & Alexander does public relations for beauty service and product companies around the country as well as around the world. We currently serve clients in Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County, New York, Arizona and as far as China and Ireland. An Oceanside, CA listing would actually be 'misleading' for a local city category as there are no beauty related clients in Oceanside and no one here would utilize our services. The submission instructions are specific for the Regional listings and there are many beauty product and service companies in the Southern California Region so I suspect that would be a more appropriate listing. Hard to know what is best to do and still remain within the DMOZ guidelines. I hope our listing as a National PR firm specializing in the beauty industry gets approved as that really is what we do. Thanks for your help. Alex Irving

No it would not be misleading. A Regional/ listing is based on where you are, not on where you market, hope to market, or dream of marketing. Regional listings tell surfers that this company is located here. Regional listings complement the topical listings where Alice's Beauty Salon and Tattoo Temoval Parlor goes goes looking for for a PR agency because of the small incident with the goat. People wanting to know more about the economy of a community, what types of companies are there and who might be a future employer surf the Regional listings. First time I ever heard of a PR firm turning down free ink!
bobrat Posted April 25, 2004 Posted April 25, 2004 In case you missed it: company may be eligible for listing in both.
Alex Irving Posted April 27, 2004 Author Posted April 27, 2004 Appreciate the follow-up I always take sage advice.<g> Thank you all. I am on my way to the regional area too. Alex
Alex Irving Posted September 6, 2004 Author Posted September 6, 2004 Hi Folks, Checking back after about 6 months since submitting http://www.beauty-pr.com? to http://dmoz.org/Business/Marketing_and_Advertising/Public_Relations/Agencies/E/. So far Esche & Alexander is not showing up under Public Relations Agencies or anywhere on DMOZ.ORG. I can only imagine what the pile of new submissions looks like but any help appreciated. I'm hoping to improve my ranking on Google of course. Thanks Alex Irving
Alex Irving Posted September 22, 2004 Author Posted September 22, 2004 Good Morning, I do have a previous thread and posted a 6 month check-back request a few weeks ago back on the 6th but am concerned that my thread (being bewhiskered) and with the onslaught of whining requests by the ton that I have slipped off the radar. So I thought I'd 'barge' to the head of line to ask someone to look back for me. Here is the message on the original thread . . . "Checking back after about 6 months since submitting http://www.beauty-pr.com? to:http://www.dmoz.org/Business/Marketing_and_Advertising/Public_Relations/Agencies/E/ So far Esche & Alexander is not showing up under Public Relations Agencies or anywhere on DMOZ.ORG. jimnoble Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 We specifically ask people not to start new threads about old topics so I've merged your latest one onto this original one. Checking back after about 6 monthsWe specifically ask that people not check back for at least 6 months - which could well be why your request of 6th September was not answered. Feel free to ask again in this same thread some time after 4th October.
Alex Irving Posted October 8, 2004 Author Posted October 8, 2004 How am I doing? Hello again Jim, As requested I am checking back after the date recommended to ensure my request for listing is still alive and well and in the hopper for: http://www.beauty-pr.com in category: http://www.dmoz.org/Business/Marketing_and_Advertising/Public_Relations/Agencies/E/ No sign of Esche & Alexander Public Relations being listed yet under Public Relations Agencies or in the other categories suggested by other volunteers Thanks for any help. Alex Irving
djdeeds Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 It has been listed in http://dmoz.org/Business/Marketing_and_Advertising/By_Industry
Alex Irving Posted October 12, 2004 Author Posted October 12, 2004 I thought I did Did you ever sumbit to Regional/ I thought I did in . . .http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/California/Regions/Southern_California/Business_and_Economy/Advertising_and_Marketing/ But When I do a search for my name the only thread that pops up is this one and there is no listing in Regional. It has to have been 6 months since I took the suggestion and checked into regional . . .Dare I try it again <g>. I will go back and drop another request. Thanks to all for getting Esche & Alexander up and running on DMOZ.ORG. Much appreciated. Keep up the good work. Alex
Editall/Catmv arubin Posted October 12, 2004 Editall/Catmv Posted October 12, 2004 I'll consider this a status request on the Regional entry. An editor decided that the business is actually located in Oceanside, and so moved it to [cat=Regional/North_America/United_States/California/Localities/O/Oceanside/Business_and_Economy]Oceanside Business and Economy[/cat] for consideration. There seems to been a duplicate submission to that same category, but I can't tell if you're responsible. In any case, there is a submission waiting for consideration there. In any case, there's no need to resubmit unless you move.
Alex Irving Posted October 22, 2004 Author Posted October 22, 2004 Thanks Thank you everyone for the help during the listing period. I will check out the Oceanside category. It was suggested a long time ago and like I said. Wouldn't I be follish not to take good advice. I don't believe I submitted a second request there. I was actually hoping for a more regional or national category as we do not serve the Oceanside community. Our clients are sattered across the U.S. as well as Ireland and China. Again, thanks for your asssistance. Alex irving
coconutz Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 >>I was actually hoping for a more regional or national category as we do not serve the Oceanside community. I believe this was previously addressed earlier in this discussion: A Regional/ listing is based on where you are, not on where you market, hope to market, or dream of marketing.
