Justin Jeffries Posted September 30, 2004 Posted September 30, 2004 I hope I am not being a pest. I recently started a new job for the company I am submitting a listing for. http://www.dremed.com Due to the importance of DMOZ.org it reflects on my work performance if the site is indexed here. So after waiting for a while I am seeking help. I submitted the site under: http://www.dmoz.org/Business/Healthcare/Products_and_Services/Medical_Equipment/Catalogues/ I submitted several weeks ago. After no response I attempted to become an editor. I did make clear that I would make a good editor but had some vested interest in becoming one. I am not here at all to abuse the system but was immediately rejected for editorial status. Does anyone think I am doing something wrong. I think the site is worthy and has been added to an appropriate catagory. Any help would be appreciated. :o
Justin Jeffries Posted October 5, 2004 Author Posted October 5, 2004 My post slipped out without notice Hmmm. I read I should reply to my initial post if it falls to page 3 and has not been answered. So here goes... In looking over the catagories some of our direct competitors are in the catagory I submitted to, but I could see our domain fitting into two or three different catagories in this section of the site? The section I submitted to might not be the "most" relevant, but it really seems to be a matter of opinion. Will the editor just recatagorize our site if they decide to include it? Do you think I should resubmit? Should I hold tight and give the catagory editor some time to breath?
Justin Jeffries Posted October 8, 2004 Author Posted October 8, 2004 Alms for the poor... This is my second reply to my own thread. I feel like a lepper. Could someone give me crumbs? Anything that would shed the tiniest bit of light. I would like to resubmit based on everything I have learned by am afraid to because it might extend the process even further?
Meta hutcheson Posted October 8, 2004 Meta Posted October 8, 2004 I haven't been able to verify the status, but four submittals have been deleted as "duplicates"--in four different categories. The various editors each claimed they left one for review, but didn't say where. At this point I wouldn't resubmit.
djdeeds Posted October 9, 2004 Posted October 9, 2004 It waits review in http://dmoz.org/Business/Healthcare/Products_and_Services/Medical_Equipment/Remanufacturers-Remarketers
Justin Jeffries Posted October 9, 2004 Author Posted October 9, 2004 I will hang tight... Thanks for the update and clarification. I will hang tight and let the editors do their thing. On a less serious note, I think it might be time to go put down a few stiff drinks and talk about the meaning of life down at my local watering hole. Cheers and a good weekend to ya!
Justin Jeffries Posted April 22, 2005 Author Posted April 22, 2005 Updated Status of www.dremed.com Wondering what to expect with http://www.dremed.com . I had posted back in October and gotten an update that the site is sitting in que. The forum guidelines asked that I wait 6 months before posting again, so I am back for my 6 month checkup. Anything that you would be willing to do to help us out would be appreciated. Pretty much at our editors mercy and feel like we have done all we can do. Regards, Justin
Justin Jeffries Posted May 2, 2005 Author Posted May 2, 2005 Updated Status of www.dremed.com I posted a 6 month reply a little over one week ago and recieved no response. Does anyone know if the Catagory - http://dmoz.org/Business/Healthcare/Products_and_Services/Medical_Equipment/Remanufacturers-Remarketers/ - is being updated on a regular basis?
bobrat Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 Editors have been finding copies of your URL and related other URL's and "deeplinks" in various categories, duplicates have been removed. The latest removal was in April. I would suggest you refrain from further submissions, since the presence of your site in multiple categories does tend to delay review, while it's sorted out which ones should be dleted and which left for review. Deeplinks are pages within the sites or subdomains
Justin Jeffries Posted May 2, 2005 Author Posted May 2, 2005 Deeplinks The site is rather large and there are several sub domains and past addresses that are related. Nothing malicous. We have not submitted more than 2 or 3 domains / sub domains in the past year and they were for different divisions of our company. However, I will make sure that we do not submit any more. Did not realize the problem(s) you are writing about existed. Thanks for the feedback.
jimnoble Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 Did not realize the problem(s) you are writing about existed. Please reread http://dmoz.org/html/add.html which was acknowledged as read and agreed every time a submission was made.
