I recently requested a new category be added for a site I wish to submit, The category I requested was the following: Top: World/Chinese_Simplified/safety/ My site is a fire safety website, There many fire safety website in china, But no category in ODP. Thanks.
chaos127 Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 The top level categories under the world languages will usually mirror the main categories in the English side of the directory (Society, Games, Computers, Regional, etc). It isn't likely that a new top level categories outside this list will be created. In any case it's rare for new categories to be created at the request of submitters, so I'd advise submitting your site in the best place that's available right now. It the reviewing editor sees the need for a new category, he/she will make one, possibly discussing it in our internal forums first. If you're not sure where to submit, have a look for similar sites that are already listed, or look on the english side for where your site would go there if it was in English. Then look at the Chinese side, and follow the links down from the top as far as you can go in the right direction. I don't know any chinese, but for example, if you thought that http://dmoz.org/Health/Public_Health_and_Safety/ would be a good fit, but there's no chinese equivalent, you would submit to http://dmoz.org/World/Chinese_Simplified/%e5%81%a5%e5%ba%b7/ which is the closest available. On the other hand, perhaps http://dmoz.org/Home/Emergency_Preparation/Safety/Fire/ is more suited to your site, you might want to start looking here: http://dmoz.org/World/Chinese_Simplified/%e5%ae%b6%e5%ba%ad/
