Peter_Zaitsev Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 I'm wondering where I should report errors in the downloadable RDF data. I can see a lot of logical consistence errors wile parsing it. Here is example: <Topic r:id="Top/Arts/Animation/Artists/Directors/Freleng,_Friz"> <catid>78966</catid> <d:Title>Freleng,_Friz</d:Title> <related r:resource="Top/Arts/Animation/Studios/Warner_Bros/Looney_Tunes/Characters/Tweety"/> <related r:resource="Top/Arts/Animation/Studios/Warner_Bros/Looney_Tunes/Characters/Yosemite_Sam"/> <related r:resource="Top/Arts/Animation/Cartoons/Titles/P/Pink_Panther,_The"/> <related r:resource="Top/Arts/Animation/Studios/DePatie-Freleng"/> <lastUpdate>2004-05-21 08:44:04</lastUpdate> </Topic> As you see it links to "Warner_Bros" directory. There is however no such directory in the directories definitions, Directory is defined as "Warner_Bros.": <Topic r:id="Top/Arts/Animation/Studios/Warner_Bros."> <catid>2468</catid> <d:Title>Warner_Bros.</d:Title> <related r:resource="Top/Arts/Television/Networks/WB"/> <symbolic r:resource="Freakazoid:Top/Arts/Animation/Cartoons/Titles/F/Freakazoid"/> <symbolic r:resource="Taz-Mania:Top/Arts/Animation/Cartoons/Titles/T/Taz-Mania"/> <symbolic r:resource="Tiny_Toon_Adventures:Top/Arts/Animation/Cartoons/Titles/T/Tiny_Toon_Adventures"/> <symbolic r:resource="Batman:Top/Arts/Animation/Cartoons/Titles/B/Batman"/> <symbolic r:resource="Batman_Beyond:Top/Arts/Animation/Cartoons/Titles/B/Batman/Batman_Beyond"/> <symbolic r:resource="Animaniacs:Top/Arts/Animation/Cartoons/Titles/A/Animaniacs"/> <symbolic r:resource="Cubix_Robots_for_Everyone:Top/Arts/Animation/Cartoons/Titles/C/Cubix_Robots_for_Everyone"/> <symbolic r:resource="Road_Rovers:Top/Arts/Animation/Cartoons/Titles/R/Road_Rovers"/> <symbolic r:resource="Pinky_and_The_Brain:Top/Arts/Animation/Cartoons/Titles/P/Pinky_and_The_Brain"/> <symbolic r:resource="Justice_League:Top/Arts/Animation/Cartoons/Titles/J/Justice_League"/> <symbolic r:resource="Histeria:Top/Arts/Animation/Cartoons/Titles/H/Histeria"/> <symbolic r:resource="Generation_O:Top/Arts/Animation/Cartoons/Titles/G/Generation_O"/> <symbolic r:resource="Superman:Top/Arts/Animation/Cartoons/Titles/S/Superman"/> <symbolic r:resource="Static_Shock:Top/Arts/Animation/Cartoons/Titles/S/Static_Shock"/> <lastUpdate>2004-05-21 08:20:35</lastUpdate> <narrow1 r:resource="Top/Arts/Animation/Studios/Warner_Bros./Movies"/> <narrow1 r:resource="Top/Arts/Animation/Studios/Warner_Bros./Fan_Fiction"/> <narrow1 r:resource="Top/Arts/Animation/Studios/Warner_Bros./Comics"/> <narrow1 r:resource="Top/Arts/Animation/Studios/Warner_Bros./Television"/> <narrow1 r:resource="Top/Arts/Animation/Studios/Warner_Bros./Chats_and_Forums"/> <narrow r:resource="Top/Arts/Animation/Studios/Warner_Bros./Looney_Tunes"/> <newsGroup r:resource="news:alt.animation.warner-bros"/> </Topic> This, as well as many other issues could be fixed manually, but I'm wondering why it happens on the first place ? Might be original information should be checked and corrected ?
Meta windharp Posted October 8, 2004 Meta Posted October 8, 2004 That is a known problem, resulting from renamed categories. When a category is renamed, the "old" category name is replaced by a redirect to the "new" one. So in theory the old names stay valid. AFAIK the file http://rdf.dmoz.org/rdf/redirect.rdf.u8.gz should help you - it lists all redirects that are in place. At the moment I can't check if the one you have spotted is in there due to this computers limitations. Curlie Meta/kMeta Editor windharp
