This isn't your typical forum. Idle chit chat really isn't encouraged here. While this Members Lounge offers a certain finite amount of latitude for some limited off topic chatter, this is not meant to be a chatty little forum. We like it that it is "all DMOZ" here -- that's what the site is for.

 

We're not looking to fill this forum with "Hey, where're you from?", "What are you doing now?", "come check out my site" and other completely irrelevent postings.

If your primary purpose in coming to this site is to kick back and chat (and it seems to be), this really isn't the place for you. There are so many other forums you can go to -- why the obsession with doing it here? This site is here for ODP-related topics first and foremost. A certain amount of off-topic chatter is unavoidable but we really don't want to encourage an influx of people posting just to make talk.

Hello Gilda the Good Witch, actually only yesterday I posted loads of stuff on other forums on how to update DMOZ listings. I have not come here just to chat in a rest room, I run and own a multi million pound business. I use forums for two reasons, one to help others with tips like how to find broken links, how to market your site, why not to pester DMOZ Editors about waiting to get listed, just submit and wait and secondly to build my backlinks. I hope you won't pull this one and I trust that you and I will become friends as you see what I can do for a forum. I will do that today.

The point I keep trying to make to you is that we're not looking for you to "do " anything in or for this site. We're not looking to redesign, revamp, realign, redo anything to draw in new posters. We're not looking to perk it up, amp it up, or make it a fun place to just hang out. Seriously. Please stop trying to remake it.
