suniverse Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 Hello, I have submitted my website to this category many times during the past 3 months, but with no success! I don't see the reason why, as I am sure my website complies to all terms and conditions. Therefore I have re-submitted my website today, just in case my submission failed in the past. I am glad I found this forum Please review my website and submit it to Business/business services/consulting/marketplaces/talent auctions/ as soon as possible. my website's url is http://www.supportuniverse.com Thank you for your cooperation
jimnoble Posted November 8, 2004 Posted November 8, 2004 I'd love to help but without a clickable link to your chosen category as requested in ATTENTION - Forum Guidelines - READ BEFORE POSTING, I can't.

suniverse Posted December 17, 2004 Author Posted December 17, 2004 Could someone please reply to this request?
Meta hutcheson Posted December 17, 2004 Meta Posted December 17, 2004 The site is waiting there for review. Apparently you don't understand the ODP process. The basic process is simple. Editors review sites -- whatever sites they know about or can find -- and consider whether they should be listed. Each editor sets his own priorities, and there is no mechanism for imposing a different priority, or for manipulating the editor's choice, or even for letting anyone know what that priority is. Suggesting a site to a category merely places it in a pool (the "unreviewed queue") for that category, where an editor can (choose to) look for sites. So submitting more than once doesn't do anything but (1) waste your time, and (2) place your site further down in the "unreviewed queue sorted by date submitted". (In truth, the latter doesn't matter much because "by date" is one of the least useful ways of sorting submittals. But the point is, if you expected "many submittals" to matter -- it really doesn't.) What matters is that your submittal is in that pool waiting for review -- as I have confirmed. Now it's just a matter of time until an editor works on that category and reviews that submittal. How much time? Who knows? (Remember, we have no idea what editors are about to do.) You can bump this thread each six months, to get another check on the status. This, however, has nothing to do with editor site reviews, for better or worse.
suniverse Posted April 18, 2005 Author Posted April 18, 2005 Hello! This is the second time I come to this forum asking for the status for http://www.supportuniverse.com, The last time I asked was more than 7 months ago! and your reply was, as I remember, that it was sent for review!! The directory I submitted to was the following: http://dmoz.org/Business/Business_Services/Consulting/Marketplaces/Talent_Auctions/ Now I am starting to believe that this directory is biased, and it is controlled by one owner of a submitted site, who doesn't want any other sites in this directory! Why I think so? because you said it was sent for review, and 7 months passed and still nothing! and this directory only has 17 websites! not a single new website has been reviewed for this category for 7 months?? if this category doesn't attract much submissions, then why it's taking this long to review mine???
uzs980 Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 There is no category in the directory which is controlled by only one person. Every category can be edited by more than a hundred editors. On the other hand there are thousands and thousands of categories. If no editor is really interested in a specific subject, it sometimes takes a lot of time until sites are reviewed.
spectregunner Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 Review times can take from a few days to more than three years. Making accusations without supporting facts are not a good way to engender support or assistance. Now, would you like for us to check on the status?
suniverse Posted April 18, 2005 Author Posted April 18, 2005 yes please i am interested in knowing the status, but i would prefer if someone can do something about this and review the site, instead of just coming back to me with the same previous response that it's waiting for review....
spectregunner Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 That is absolutely NOT the purpose of this forum. This forum is simply designed to provide feedback at periodic intervals on the status of the site. Think it through for a minute -- if asking here allowed someone to get an instant or near-instant review, we'd have about a million webmasters here in a heartbeat demanding that we immediately list their sites. Think of this forum as an interactive help file, not as an executable. Now for your status: you have apparently submitted to more than one category on more than one occasion. An editor working behind the scenes cleaning up duplicate submissions (spam) deleted a submission to Business/Business_Services/Consulting/Marketplaces/Talent_Auctions and left a copy in Business/Business_Services/Consulting. There may also be another copy waiting in Computers/Companies/Software_Development that was moved there from Business/Business_Services/Outsourcing/Software_Development_and_Maintenance. You may return to this thread in six months for another status check. Do not resubmit again, for any reason, unless you are told to do so by an editor in this forum. At this point, additional submissions are counterproductive to being listed.
Meta hutcheson Posted April 18, 2005 Meta Posted April 18, 2005 Just to confirm what the gunner said. This is not a policy that can change. If we did what you wanted, this forum would be spammed out of existance within minutes.
suniverse Posted April 18, 2005 Author Posted April 18, 2005 submitting twice or 3 times with months interval is not called "spam", it's called trying again after waiting (spamming is a crime in some states, lol). anyway, knowing the status of my submission, I have no other choice than to wait for another 6 months.... I hope i won't have to return here after 6 months, but thanks for your help
