jaygreenberg Posted November 8, 2004 Posted November 8, 2004 Hi, I submitted my websites to the ODP several weeks ago, and I thought I would check in to learn the status of the submission. My websites are: http://www.free-tests.com http://www.certify-you.com http://www.free-labs.com http://www.expert-labs.com I added them to a combination of http://dmoz.org/Computers/Education/Certification/ and http://dmoz.org/Computers/Education/Certification/Cisco/ Thank you very much! bobrat Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 [readme]Please read the guidelines[/readme] Regarding a category and other points that you might have missed. Failure to follow the posting guidelines will create delays in getting an answer - please read with care.
jaygreenberg Posted November 10, 2004 Author Posted November 10, 2004 Category Clickable Links I'm very sorry about this. I have edited my original submission and made the category links clickable. Please let me know if there is anything else that I should update for your editors. Sincerely, Jay Greenberg CCIE #11021
gboisseau Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 While i do not edit in these categories and do not know the listing requirements, I did notice that these are all owned and are pointed to by http://www.accelinetworks.com/ which does not have a listing in the directory. AcceliNetworks - Our Sites Our mission is to provide the most comprehensive set of online certification resources. We specialize in Cisco Certifications, such as CCNA, CCNP and CCIE. jaygreenberg Posted November 10, 2004 Author Posted November 10, 2004 accelinetworks Yes, AcceliNetworks is the parent site for all my sites. I did not think that it was necessary to list it because it doesn't really have any content. All the relevant content is in the child sites, and should be the only sites listed in the ODP. Are you agreeable to this? Jay Greenberg CCIE #11021
jaygreenberg Posted November 10, 2004 Author Posted November 10, 2004 AcceliNetworks I agree. I have just submitted: http://www.accelinetworks.com to: http://dmoz.org/Computers/Education/Certification/ I believe that the child sites should also be listed in the ODP.
jaygreenberg Posted November 13, 2004 Author Posted November 13, 2004 Any word yet? Any word on this yet? Thanks, Jay
jaygreenberg Posted November 21, 2004 Author Posted November 21, 2004 Hello Still waiting for a response about this please, Thanks, Jay Greenberg CCIE #11021
jaygreenberg Posted November 29, 2004 Author Posted November 29, 2004 Any Word Any word on this? Thanks, Jay
Meta shadow575 Posted November 29, 2004 Meta Posted November 29, 2004 Per the guidelines that bobrat pointed out, your last resubmit per your posts is 11/10/2004. That makes you eligible for you "first" status update for that site on or after 12/10/2004. Thanks. Shadow *The opinions I offer are my own and may not represent the opinions of Curlie.org or other editors.* It can take anywhere from two hours to several years for a site review to take place. jaygreenberg Posted January 3, 2005 Author Posted January 3, 2005 Any Update Yet Hi, May I please have a status update on the progress of my listings? Thanks! Jay Greenberg CCIE #11021
jimnoble Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 http://www.accelinetworks.com has been received and is awaiting review. We can't predict when that might be. If it hasn't been listed in 6 months, please ask again in this same thread. The child domains won't be listed. Please note that this forum's rules forbid discussion on whether or not a domain is listable. Further explanation is available here.
jaygreenberg Posted January 3, 2005 Author Posted January 3, 2005 Not listing child sites Thank you for your response, I have a concern that I'm hoping that you can address. My main reason for submitting to ODP is for Search Engine status. If only my parent site is listed in the ODP, how do the search engines recognize that the content in the child sites have a valid parent listed ? Thanks again, Jay
jimnoble Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 My main reason for submitting to ODP is for Search Engine status. We're building a directory here and have absolutely no interest in SEO matters.
Meta hutcheson Posted January 3, 2005 Meta Posted January 3, 2005 (1) As always, we don't care what the search engines do or don't do. And they don't care what we think about them. (2) But ... at the current time, no search engine that I know of recognizes "SITES listed in the ODP." (3) In fact, their spiders all simply follow links. Whether those links are on the same or different DOMAINS is not relevant to them. (4) ... As, of course, it's not relevant to us. One site may be spread over several domains. So, to actually answer the question: make sure your home page (on whatever domain) links to all your various other pages (on whatever domain.) The search engines follow the links.
