jackssurfboards Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 Wow Open Directory Project is very helpful to many people. I hope our site http://www.jackssurfboards.com get on there. Is it hard to get them to summit you?
bobrat Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 Don't know about WOW - but did you know your site is listed in http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/California/Counties/Orange/Business_and_Economy/Shopping/
jackssurfboards Posted November 12, 2004 Author Posted November 12, 2004 How do i change the directory im in? I want to be in the other directory i specified how do i do that?
gboisseau Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 I am assuming you mean a different category in the ODP directory?
spectregunner Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 Sure looks like you have three locations -- all within Orange County. Sicne we list sites on the basis of where they have a physical location, that seems to be a pretty good fit. Where did you think you belong?
dogbows Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 He thinks he belongs here according to his status request. However, he only submitted it on the 11th. http://www.dmoz.org/Shopping/Sports/Water_Sports/Surfing/Surf_Shops
spectregunner Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 Well, in this case a different approach is called for. Rather than moving a site from a proper category with regional, we are often willing to consider a second listing. If the site woner reads the guidelines for Shopping, and the site fully qualifies (requirments include, but are not limited to pricing and the ability to do a complete order over the web - including delivery) then I would encourage a second submission directly to the single best Shopping category. A cautionary note -- there is no third submission option.
dogbows Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 Uh-huh, spectregunner, did you lose your glasses, again? As my post already stated he submitted on the 11th to the category mentioned in my post. He requested a status on the 12th. And now he wants to know if it is hard to get added there. I directed him to the FAQ and Forum Guidelines in his status request thread. I think he started this thread before he read the other one or maybe before I posted there. Now, to answer your question, jack. Shopping is a big spam area of the directory. It is not likely that your site, if it is eligible there, will get added as quickly as the Regional listing. So be patient, and be happy. Many do not have even one listing.
jackssurfboards Posted November 15, 2004 Author Posted November 15, 2004 I know this takes time Hey thanks to all the editors replying to my question it has been very helpful. In the catorgory http://www.dmoz.org/Shopping/Sports...fing/Surf_Shops I see "becker" and "hss" which you can compare us with just as an extensive online store. It would be greatly appreciated if we could get two listing in "Regional" and "Surf_shops". Thanks again for all the anwsers very helpful.
