modanofan Posted November 19, 2004 Posted November 19, 2004 I submitted a listing for XstreamStaging.com on October 18 and believe the directory I submitted to was http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/Canada/Nova_Scotia/Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate/ Would I be able to get a status on this listing? Thank you
robbietobbie Posted November 19, 2004 Posted November 19, 2004 Please add a clickable link to your site. Read the submission guidelines.
modanofan Posted November 20, 2004 Author Posted November 20, 2004 Link to site Sorry about that. here is a link to the site www.xstreamstaging.com Status on submission to http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_Amer...my/Real_Estate/ would be very much appreciated.
jimnoble Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 I didn't check the catagory because it won't be listed anyway, being a deeplink of http://www.xstreamrealty.com/ . That you've spread your website over multiple domain names doesn't make it eligible for multiple ODP listings.
modanofan Posted November 20, 2004 Author Posted November 20, 2004 Not a deep link Although the company (Xstream Staging) is a division of Xstream Realty Incorporated, the web site is not a deep link from the xstreamrealty.com site. http://www.xstreamstaging.com is a separate domain name which is hosted on an entirely different web hosting service as well. Please advise if I need to resubmit based on this misunderstanding
modanofan Posted November 30, 2004 Author Posted November 30, 2004 Site submission help I am confused about how to fix this submission rejection for http://www.xstreamstaging.com. This is an entirely different service than that offered by its parent company Xstream Realty Incorporated, which also has a submission pending (I hope). XstreamRealty.com is a national online realty site, while XstreamStaging is more of an advertising site for a personal home staging service being offered in the Nova Scotia area only. I will gladly resubmit, if it is suggested that I do so, but due to past mistakes, am hesitant to without permission first. :sad_rose:
modanofan Posted December 14, 2004 Author Posted December 14, 2004 Move thread Would it be better to have this thread moved over to the Regional category? If so, can someone, with the authority to do so, have this moved for me?
modanofan Posted January 4, 2005 Author Posted January 4, 2005 bump Please advise on status of this site submission. Should I resubmit, as it was previously incorrectly perceived as a deep link? Should the thread just be moved to a different area of the forum??
jimnoble Posted January 4, 2005 Posted January 4, 2005 It still isn't listable. It will never be listable. I used the deeplink word too loosely perhaps. Real estatery and home staging are very much related activities and when the two domains belong to the same organisation, we consider them to be one entity. Content yourself with the link that you presumably have to it from your main site.
modanofan Posted January 5, 2005 Author Posted January 5, 2005 Not be be a pain, but some answers lead to more questions If the sites were that similar I would definitely be content with linkage between them. However the staging service is targeted more as a business to business service. Staging is offered to realtors and homeowners, but mostly through realtors. The Xstream Realty site is targeted for homeowners directly and will not direct the realtor traffic that a listing on the open directory will. I did a search for another Staging site that has two different domain names but are owned by the same entitity (that fact is even provided in the description within the open directory's listing) but they are both listed (1 and 3). Why is this? http://search.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/search?search=stagedhomes.com If it truly is absolutely impossible to have XstreamStaging.com listed on this directory because of the current XstreamRealty.com listing, would it be possible to switch them? I am not sure I want to do that, at this time, but would like to know if it is a possibility.
oneeye Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 Editors will select which site to list when a company has multiple domains for related services. We don't take into account marketing and targetting factors. will not direct the realtor traffic that a listing on the open directory will Not our concern I'm afraid, we list whatever domain we deem better for the Directory. Thanks for the other info. Times change, standards for listings rise, it has been dealt with.
