chenqun Posted November 19, 2004 Posted November 19, 2004 Due to server problem, we were dropped out from ODP. I am not sure when excatly this happenen, but I assume it was last month or the one before. We had and still are having the server problem. Our website URL is http://www.three-gorges-travel.com It was listed in ODP directory here, http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Travel/Specialty_Travel/Cruises/River_Cruises/Asia/ I posted the above memtioned problem in this forum here The editors are very helpful, and one of them suggested me to submit a status request to "...see if it is still waiting in un-reviewed or if in fact it was deleted..." So I am here to enquiry about the current status. And I also would like to know, if we fit the server problem very soon, and re-submit the site, what is the chance of getting re-listed ? Thanks for your time.
Meta hutcheson Posted November 19, 2004 Meta Posted November 19, 2004 OK. (1) current status is: not waiting review in that category: deleted, presumably for reasons mentioned above. (2) The current chances of being relisted are zero. There is no there there. (3) For any proposed site whatsoever, always assume its chances of being listed in the ODP are zero. If the site is not worth doing in that case, then don't do it. If the site is not worth doing if it's not listed in the ODP, then you can be absolutely certain it is not listable in the ODP anyway. And if it is worth doing because it fits in with your own plans, then ... it is worth promoting it yourself, and it would be irrational to just sit around waiting for a volunteer editor to promote it. After all, at the very best, we're going to promote your competitors just as much as we do you! (4) We can't review sites that don't exist. And in any case there are no probabilities. There are sites that we review and list with 100% probability; there are sites that we review and absolutely determine not to list. It's not chance -- we do it on purpose. But as for your website, it's your purpose, and your choice.
