Mark Sedenquist Posted November 19, 2004 Posted November 19, 2004 Greetings Editors, I would like to know the status of http://www.meganedwards.com I registered the first time on 03/09/04 and did a follow-up in July, 2004 for http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Nevada/Society_and_Culture/ Checking the directory, I see there is a new one for Las Vegas Metro: http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Nevada/Las_Vegas_Metro/Society_and_Culture/ which would probably be a better classification. MeganEdwards.com is a commercial site for the author, Megan Edwards. In particular, Life in Las Vegas through the writings of author Megan Edwards. Feature stories, book & film reviews, Las Vegas facts, links, and info for Las Vegas residents and prospective residents. Thanks for your assistance on this matter. Mark
djdeeds Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 I see no sign of it being received in the first category. If it is truly a regional site, then please select the most specific category to save both editors' time and effort as well as time to listing.
Mark Sedenquist Posted November 20, 2004 Author Posted November 20, 2004 OK -- I will do it again OK, Thanks that would explain why it has never been listed. We publish new articles each week of interest to both residents and visitors and so I will try again. Thanks for the response
djdeeds Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 Waiting in http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Nevada/Las_Vegas_Metro/Society_and_Culture and http://dmoz.org/Arts/Literature/Reviews_and_Criticism/Authors
Mark Sedenquist Posted December 30, 2004 Author Posted December 30, 2004 Ok I couldn't figure out how to find the original thread -- so thanks for providing the link. I will check in again next month. Thanks for the help.
sole Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 I will check in again next month. You're welcome to check this site and the ODP category every day if you like. However, we don't do status updates less than 6 months apart.
Mark Sedenquist Posted January 1, 2005 Author Posted January 1, 2005 Additional Explanation? So, if the status update is only accessed once every six months, then is it possible that this site might not get listed for at least another six to eighteen months?
Guest gimmster Posted January 1, 2005 Posted January 1, 2005 Asking for status here is completely unrelated to site reviews. We really don't know why people keep asking, once you know it's waiting it will be reviewed when an editor gets to it. Probably less than 5% of editors come here at all, after all it's unrelated to their editing. The 6 months between requests was implemented to stop us being overloaded with 'status' requests every couple of weeks by some who just could not get it into their head that it's status, not reviews we offer here. Your site might be listed tomorrow, it might be another 2 years, we really don't know when an enthusiastic editor will take an interest in the site suggestion pool for a specific category. :tree:
Mark Sedenquist Posted January 1, 2005 Author Posted January 1, 2005 OK -- Understood -- & Thanks Thanks for the explanation. I look forward to the review of the enthusiastic editor for this regional offering. I looked into applying for that DMOZ editorial position, since as an active publisher in the Las Vegas market I have a keen understanding of the relative dearth of available sites serving this market -- but after two attempts (a software glitch discussed elsewhere on this board) which resulted in error messages, my own enthusiasm has cooled somewhat. In any case, Happy New Year! Mark
