Guest cookie_dude Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 Hi folks, I have checked with others on alt.www.webmaster and alt.internet.search-engines still having a problem submitting a website, please advise
Meta hutcheson Posted February 21, 2003 Meta Posted February 21, 2003 For timeout problems, we don't have a solution. Try at different times of the day, and hope the hackers get tired of hitting the server, or hope the technical people get a handle on the proxy servers being used.
Meta enarra Posted February 21, 2003 Meta Posted February 21, 2003 Yes, they probably will be for "ahwile" too. I can't give you even a rough estimate of when the server issues will be resovled because no one really knows. I can tell you though that dmoz staff is in the process of adding servers to increase speed for ODPs needs into the future. Adding servers is a time consuming process of ordering, waiting for delivery, setting up and testing; it will be some time before ODP is back up to full speed again. Until then we're all suffering through timeouts. My mantra has become "patience patience...". <img src="/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" />
Guest johnbrace Posted February 22, 2003 Posted February 22, 2003 Caching (for instance by your ISP) or internally by your browser can also cause the problem you describe.
Guest kwngian Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 I don't know if this will help but I am also having the same problem as what you are facing since my access to the Internet is through a cache proxy. I use sockschain to bypass it. kwngian
