Re: help if possible

I'm not sure what you're talking about. NONE of the URLs you mention have EVER been in ANY ODP category, nor (given the spamophilic nature of "hotel directory" categories) are they likely to ever be.

So it doesn't matter what title they won't have.

Not that it would be a problem for two sites to have the same title. It has happened once or twice before, and the ODP development system didn't collapse. Only the URL has to be unique.

Re: help if possible

If I understand Adolf, he wants to add in the category http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/Lancashire/Blackpool/Travel_and_Tourism/Accommodation/Directories/

//[/i]www.blackpoolhotelsdirectory.com/]http://www.blackpoolhotelsdirectory.com/

However It is by the same author as as site already there

//[/i]www.blackpool-holidays.org.uk/]http://www.blackpool-holidays.org.uk/

In passing I would add that there is a degree of semblence from another two sites already in the cat

//[/i]www.blackpool-hotels.co.uk/]http://www.blackpool-hotels.co.uk/

and

//[/i]www.blackpoolhotel.com/]http://www.blackpoolhotel.com/

which have nothing at all to do with Adolf

Second,

I Have Nothing To Do With Any Other Blackpool Sites blackpool-holidays.org.uk not related to me The Same Company Designed Both Sites But Did Not Mean The Owner Of b-h.org.uk is related to my site .

Re: help if possible

Interesting thread this one

Adolf's English seems to be improving!

Anyway "Adolf's" URL is owned by one Alan McPhee who also owns blackpoolseach.com and Northdene Holiday Flats and blackpoolbreaks.net, and Alba Media (all in the public and available at Whois)

If I might say so Alan, the Adolf, I enjoyed the joke

Just_browsing: How do you know who owns a domain name? I didn't know that you look this up. If you have an address I would be more than interested /images/icons/smile.gif

The whole goings on at Blackpool and what spins out of it is much deeper than at first glance

I have sent a private message to apuero with details, rather than cite it here

That's exactly the way it should be done. Thanks. /images/icons/smile.gif

In reply to:

Adolf,

I'm sorry, we don't understand you in English. Please ask in this forum if you speak German: http://www.resource-zone.com/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=Deutsch

"Adolf" is not a common name in Germany and other German-speaking countries anymore, especially not within the internet generation. The number of parents who give this calamity-laden name to their boy has radically dropped at least 57 years ago. So it was not a good pseudonym for "Adolf's" purpose either. /images/icons/crazy.gif

This was an entertaining thread, not to mention informative. It seems you have an extraordinary spam sniffing ability, just_browsing. Must be all that browsing you do. /images/icons/wink.gif

A side note: If you allowed private messages to be sent, I'd thank you for the one you sent me. /images/icons/smile.gif

Re: help if possible

Alan

Can I make the suggestion to you that if you have a problem with a local editor, that you contact an meta with your concerns privately. They will be slow to deal with your problem (read snowed under with work) but it will be looked at seriously if you have made a properly documented case

You do not add to your credibility by making the sorts of posts that you have made here.

There are a number (who knows how many) categories like Blackpool that may need some investigation to get a problem resolved. But chaos would rule if everyone posted the sort of first post you made in this thread. Problems, real or imagined, will only be resolved if evidence is presented objectively and via "the proper channels"

As I see it, you and Doug Smith have Internet "empires" that "control" much of the Internet information about Blackpool.

That in itself is no "crime", however it is if one or other (or indeed yet another person) of you gains unfair advantage of their own sites by either plugging their own sites, or deleting their competitors sites by dint of being a DMOZ editor.

I am sure that as a result of this thread a long hard look will be taken at the Blackpool category. Whether the final result makes you happy or not, by virtute of what decisions are taken with your and your competitors sites, remains to be seen.

But I remain convinced that you would have achieved more by taking your complaints up in the proscribed manner
